Dr. Housein Moustafa Wazaz, MD

Colonoscopy went great, but scammy business practices. I've never had a GI doctor require not one but TWO follow-ups which last about 1 minute where he asks how you are and then you're free to go. I believe it's a money-making scheme and the office doesn't even let you cancel the appointments. Making the elderly take the bus and all that just for a useless appointment and money-making scheme is bad business!

Dr. Wazaz encouraged me to have a colonoscopy at 44 years of age when all I wanted to do was have a minor procedure done to relieve some discomfort. I felt it was a little overkill for why I was there but decided to listen to him based on other symptoms he raised as a concern. I was so happy I listened to his advice. He found a 17 mm polyp during the colonoscopy that, if left untreated, would have increased my risk for colon cancer. I am very happy I listened to my doctor and not the voice in my head telling me to just wait for the age based time for the procedure.

We are incredibly thankful for Dr. Wazaz. He could treat my daughter and me very accurately and carefully. We are blessed. His staff are very friendly and helpful.

Went to go see Dr. Wazaz after doing research on hemorrhoid removal. He talked to me for a couple minutes and told me that he could alleviate my pain with his removal procedure. He told me we could do it in the office but it would be better if instead I got a colonoscopy and endoscopy so he could see what he was doing during the removal and it would improve the odds of success. Come procedure day, he told me that he would not be removing any hemorrhoid and if I wanted, I could do it in the office. As a result, I got jammed with a 2000$ endoscopy/colonoscopy bill - a procedure I didn't need (Only 37 years old and had no other issues other than the hemorrhoid). He clearly sold me on something to line his pockets that was NOT in my best interest. I will not be going back to see him and I warn all those who chose "to do business" with him. Because thats what it is to him. He's short, dismissive, and clearly doesn't care about his patients. Beware or you'll end up paying for stuff you don't… need.

I had a great experience with Dr. Wazaz , he was wonderful! Very friendly, extremely knowledgeable and the upmost professionalism , Dr.Wazaz really explained everything to me and listened attentively as I asked questions ....would highly recommend him to anyone who needs treatment. His office staff was very efficient as well and made me feel comfortable during my exams.

WARNING! Dr. Wazaz is a money making scam artist. DO NOT TRUST WHAT THIS OFFICE SAYS ABOUT PRICING or ABOUT WHAT PROCEDURES YOU NEED DONE. Dr. Wazaz is not interested in listening to his patients or looking out for their best interest, but only in doing as many money making procedures as will benefit his wallet. I am self pay, his office made me pay $800 up front - cash - to have procedures done. They then quoted me incorrectly to do a colo and endo. They way underpriced, so that I would do them. It is a good thing I checked with the endoscopy center (who mentioned, by the way, that his office does this all the time!) I then cut my procedure down to just an endo, with the understanding that was all I was having done. NOPE! 2 weeks later I receive a bill for $2,400 for FOUR biopsies done, that I had no knowledge of him doing. He never mentioned that he would be doing them, nothing. And now I am stuck paying $2,400! Numerous calls to his office - billing manager Darlene - don't get… returned. This is just a terrible way to run a medical practice. I knew I should have listened to all the bad reviews, but he came highly recommended by another MD, whom I respect. This time I was wrong. PLEASE, the bad reviews are true. Go further down the State to the New Haven area. Find a G.I. who really cares and run from this doctor. He must be smiling all the way to his 401K and early retirement, but....he will have to live with his conscience.

He is not only skilled and competent, but a pleasant person as well. He is efficient and reassuring. My procedure was a trial because of the staff’s inability to understand the procedure and ‘educate’ me prior to having it. It caused a delay in getting started. I would definitely recommend him as a practitioner. He is wonderful.

He should have his license revoked after the surgery he performed on my 86 year old mother and was very “scalpel happy”! I filed a complaint with the patient advocate line about him. You should be ashamed of yourself!!!!!!

"Dr" Wazaz performed a procedure on my father that he had no consent to perform (my father told Wazaz and his staff THREE times that he did NOT want this Banding procedure done along with his scheduled Colonoscopy. This was all communicated to the office staff and then confirmed by the office. On the day of the scheduled Colonoscopy, Wazaz went ahead and did the Banding anyway, resulting in several of months of bleeding, discomfort and pain, along with terrible anxiety that came before, with, and following every bowel movement that my father has had since. Wazaz's "aftercare" was offensive and disgusting...he had zero explantation when I finally spoke with him after four days straight of bothering his staff. He has no documentation on record of any consent from my father whatsoever and Wazaz broke protocol by NOT speaking with my father prior to the procedure but sending another doctor in instead, who also never mentioned the Banding procedure. Again, there is no documentation of… signed consent by my father to do the Banding procedure. During and because of the six months of discomfort and pain that my father endured due to the procedure, he was unable to get a prostate biopsy and his PSA levels doubled. When he was finally healed enough to get the biopsy, my father was subsequently diagnosed with cancer that had spread aggressively during the six months that he was basically on the floor in pain because of what Wazaz did. As another of his patients has recently stated to my father, "All he cares about is his $500.00 shirts". And from another "That guy is a butcher". Wazaz is being reported to the State Board for Medical Malpractice and Negligence. Oh, and when I mentioned this fact to him, he really didn't seem to care a whole lot. No compassion, no explanation, no accountability, nothing from this guy. He's just disgusting.

I’m finally smiling again! I was just recently referred to Dr. Wazaz after 5 long years of battling the symptoms associated with IBS. I was having constant abdominal pain, bloating, fatigue and none the less anxiety about living with these symptoms the rest of my life! He is the 3rd gastroenterologist I’ve seen in the past 5 years and all I can say is I AM BLESSED. He is not only extremely knowledgeable in his specialty, he is personable and has a great sense of humor! The most important factor to him is patient satisfaction and positive outcomes! With the right medication and treatment plan my symptoms have resolved and I haven’t felt better in years. Another perk is that he does not leave you waiting for hours to see him!!! He is always punctual, quick but thorough and most importantly he gets to the bottom of your issue. I highly recommend Dr Wazaz for all of your GI issues.
