Dr. Howard Jeffrey Schwartz, MD

After suffering a sudden internal bleeding, Dr. Schwartz performed an examination, determined the cause and very quickly healed me. Great doctor and very personable. I totally respect this great doctor.

I wanted to confirm whether I had Barrett's esophagus and wanted another endoscopy and opinion. I was concerned about my constant heartburn and met with Dr. Schwartz who requested my endoscopy records from my previous doctor. Meanwhile, his office set me up for a colonoscopy for 1:00 at the EndoCentre at Green Tree. I didn't hear anything about my endoscopy records so I called the office. I was told that Dr. Schwartz received my records and saw the pathology report and didn't think I needed an endoscopy for 5 more years. I wasn't happy since I was hoping both procedures would be done on the same day. When I arrived for my procedure, the EndoCenter had me sign all my forms in the waiting room. No one explained any of the forms to me as was stated on the forms themselves. I was suppose to sign these forms once a nurse explained their content. I had to read them myself and then I signed. Once in the surgery area and lying on my side, I heard Dr. Schwartz come in behind me and say hello.… Never did he appear in front of me so that I could see him. We had absolutely no other communication until I woke up from the anesthesia and FELT A HOSE VIBRATING IN MY RECTUM. No one else was in the room except for me and Dr. Schwartz. I said, "something is vibrating in my butt" (I was in a stupor) to which Dr. Schwartz in a rather anxious and surprised voice said, "It will just be another minute lye still. The vibrating stopped and he silently disappeared without my ever seeing him. When I got back to the area where my clothes were, the nurse offered me a choice of beverages. I asked for water and was given a bottle of Deer Park. I took 3 sips and the nurse took the bottle from me and sat it on a counter and said "you're done with this right?" I said no that it was a perfectly good bottle of water that I wanted since I have had no liquid to drink for 13 hours. They never called my husband back to help me dress. The nurse closed the curtains around my area and told me to dress. Groggily I dressed myself and made my way to a room near the rear exit where my husband was sitting I noticed everyone putting on their coats, turning out lights and saying goodbye. I realized they had rushed me to wake up , get dressed and leave. Dr. Schwartz appeared and stood outside the doorway to where my husband and I were sitting. He quickly tapped his knuckles on the doorway as he told me everything looked good. He then ended with a remark that I will never understand. He told me he hopes he never has to do my endoscopy. I asked him why? to which he replied "Well, it's good for me and good for you." I still have no idea what this man meant by his comment. So needless to say Dr. Schwartz will never do my endoscopy because I will never use him again. Nor will I ever have another procedure done in the EndoCentre of Baltimore at Green Tree.

Never have I found a doctor of any kind that spends time explaining to and truly nursing his patients back to health. Unimaginable bedside manner, he should write the book.

My fav. dr. by far! he is always on time, compassionate, caring and very knowledable. I would highley rec. him to everyone:)I live in the westminster area and he is in owings mills so the location is in a reasonable location that's easy to get to.
