Dr. Howard Taft Strassner, MD

In 1986, during a critical complication in my pregnancy, I was transferred from a suburban emergency room to RUSH Labor & Delivery, where I remained for nearly four months. At that time, the outlook was grim, as the likelihood of a viable birth was considered extremely low. Seeking the best possible care, I asked physicians and residents who they regarded as the leading high-risk obstetrician in the department. Their answer was unanimous: Dr. Harold Strassner. Upon my request, Dr. Strassner took charge of my care and initiated a pioneering approach to reduce contractions, employing IV Terbutaline—an asthma medication with a long record of safety in children. His treatment allowed my pregnancy to continue until 32 weeks, when I delivered a healthy 5.5-pound son without complications. Thanks to Dr. Strassner’s expertise and dedication, my son was given the chance to thrive. He quickly overcame the challenges of prematurity, went on to excel in athletics, and ultimately pursued a career… in film. Today he is 6’3”, 39 years old, a successful Hollywood producer, devoted husband, and a father of two beautiful children of his own. I remain profoundly grateful to Dr. Harold Strassner. His skill, compassion, and innovative care not only saved my son’s life but also gave rise to generations of family joys that followed. Dr. Strassner’s legacy lives on in my son, his children, and all of us who have been blessed by his outstanding work.
