Dr. Ian Thomas Kroes, MD

See what I wrote on health grade about Dr. Kroes and his wife Sabrina Kroes. I think he is a good caring physician who offers time and listens. But his relationship with his wife is very problematical and she has become increasingly intrusive in the practice and acts as if she has a license to practice medicine and is the one we should listen to. She seems to have time on her hands since her own start up failed. When I had a very serious medical surgical problem develop and called in the evening. She told me that she had spoken with him and then it could wait until morning. This is because she instituted what she thought was protecting him, namely, not having patients call in the evening, unless it was a true emergency, however, you define that. People have been calling for refills in the evening, which was not appropriate. But people call for other reasons too when they’re concerned and something is potentially dangerous and harmful. But she instituted the rule about not calling after… a certain time at night. And she answers the phone. This is malpractice and can be reported to the Medical Board of California. They would not be happy hearing this. And I’m a physician having practiced for 50 years and have never had a complaint like this against me.

What constitutes a great doctor? ** Professional, courteous, patient, intelligent, humorous ** Deeply knowledgeable about a wide variety of medical topics ** Able to translate complicated medical matters into plain English ** Honestly assesses how serious things are, yet is very reassuring ** Establishes warm rapport so you can trust him ** Gives you the time you need, never hurried or harried ** Genuinely cares about you as an individual ** Same day or next day appointments ** Extremely responsive to email questions If this list is what you are looking for in a doctor, then Dr. Ian Kroes fits the bill. Highly recommend.

Dr. Ian Kroes was my primary care physician for 10 years at PAMF. I greatly appreciated his holistic and thoughtful approach. Dr. Kroes was very good at going through pros and cons, and patiently answering my many questions (I frequently would do research before my visits). He always set my expectations, and if there was a choice between aggressive and conservative, it was always a thoughtful discussion.

Dr. Kroes is a gem! he always listens and takes his time before suggesting the treatment plan. And he just very caring, hard to find someone like this in this day and age.
