Dr. Iqbal Mohsin Akhter, MD

He is a brilliant man who is superior to many in his specialty field. He was able to accurately diagnose when the Mayo wasn’t able to. He truly cares about his patients! I can say with certainty that he is the reason I’ve led such a full life! I don’t know what I’ll do when he retires!!!

Very disappointed in the rude staff, doctor became very rude just time to move on

They seem to close on a whim not sticking to the hours they advertise. Cannot leave message on phone. Lost a co-payment. The worst--twice I dropped by the office to make payment during their business hours right after lunch. The office was unlocked, computers were on and I was able to wander the clinic freely, no doors were locked. Later the office worker told me that was her nap time!!! He is abrupt and not approachable. Looking for new Dr.

I have been seeing Dr akhtar for too many years I've put up with his horrible bedside manner due to him being the only rheumatologist in this area and he takes advantage of that. He has refused to see me when I was 10 minutes late due to construction and I live 30 minutes away so that's another waste of time. He has refused to see me when I had a $30 bill because my Medicaid hadn't been kicked in yet to pay for the difference of my medicare. He was mad at me a couple times because I never had a TB test done since I was on methotrexate. Last time I was there was the last straw. He chewed me out because his name was on blood work that showed my potassium. It was two points lower than it should have been and he told me I could die from a low potassium and he did not want to have his name on a test that he did not order. I tried to explain to him that this was a well check up from Salem Hospital regarding me being over 50 and they took a potassium test and sent him the results so that's… why his name was on it due to him being my rheumatologist. He pretty well explained that he didn't want to be liable if I would drop dead because his name was on the test results what a horrible doctor I wash my hands of him.

Are you always a jerk or just to your patients?

I have Psoriatic Arthritis and went to Dr Akhter for an evaluation. He ordered X Rays of my shoulder. When I got to the hostital for the X Rays, the radiologist mentioned that it was to be done on my left shoulder when it was my right one that was hurting. When I told the radiologist that was the wrong shoulder, he said he couldn't change the doctors order. When I returned to Dr Akhter, he tried to blame me, saying I should have had them X Ray the other shoulder. Well, i'm no doctor but I know (and he knew) that a patient can't change the Dr's orders and neither can the X Ray tech. He was extremely rude to me for the rest of the visit. Guess he got embarrassed over HIS mistake. I never went back. To his patients: Check any orders he writes for you and make sure they are correct because he will NOT accept responsibility for HIS mistakes.

I feel it very poor service when you wait to be seen for up to 1 hour and when you have a 3:45 time and get held up by construction and get there at 3:47 to find the doctor has left. NOT COOL ,LOST TIME FROM WORK!!!!!
