Israel Deutsch, M.D., is Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Deutsch cares for patients with all types of cancer, with a special interest in Prostate, Gynecologic, and Head & Neck cancers. He is Director of Brachytherapy Services in the Department of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Deutsch is a respected researcher with numerous peer-reviewed contributions to medical literature and has edited many book chapters in his areas of expertise. He is a member of the Review Committee on Continuing Medical Education at Columbia University Medical Center. Dr. Deutsch received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then received transitional year training during an internship at New York Hospital Queens, after which he completed his radiation oncology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Deutsch then furthered his training with a fellowship in brachytherapy at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer …Center. In collaboration with several clinical and basic science colleagues, he is conducting a number of clinical and translational studies. Dr. Deutsch sits on the Internal Review Board (IRB) for Clinical Trials and is also a member of the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) as Investigator representing the Department of Radiation Oncology. Dr. Deutsch is very involved in residency education and serves as Associate Director of the Radiation Oncology Residency Program at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.

Dr Deutsch told me everything I needed to know about the option of radiation for prostate cancer. All the pros and cons, his professional confidence gave me confidence. And yet he didn't present any rose-colored predictions. He prepared minutely for the radiation, an extra CT scan,etc. The radiation worked beautifully. cancer all gone for three years already. Minimal side effects. What I find very touching is his very real joy at my progress. A wonderful person.

I went to him for a second opinion. He is a very kind and patient doctor. He explains things extremely well and answers all your questions. He spends as much time as needed and you don’t feel rushed. He is what all doctors should emulate. He was concerned about my condition and recommended a different procedure. I am truly grateful and wish him well. The staff that works for him are extremely polite and gracious.

Dr. Deutsch is unbelievably caring and extraordinarily sweet. He gave me as much time as I wanted, answered all my question and was very professional every time I had a treatment. I would recommend him highly.

referred to dr. deutsch by my oncologist at columbia presbyterian for radiation i asked him to help me with the name of a doctor in my area said he knew no one in brooklyn and to call around myself. also said when he examined me "what is this?" of course i had no idea as i was on my back. he said "it should not be there" and then left. went directly to my oncologist; she checked nothing - she called him and he gave some nebulous answer. actually i gave an excellent for diagnosis - that was done by my oncologist have no idea, truly, of his expertise in this area,nor of his medical acumen. I just know i felt like a piece of rubbish when i left his office. truly i was feeling vulnerable just having undergone complete hysterectomy but i think this colored the encounter with dr.deutsch minimally.
