I interacted with Dr. Walzel a number of times pre-surgery. Dr. Walzel provided meticulous attention to the logistics of my surgery and his care and attention post-surgery was just as magnificently meticulous! Dr. Walzel is very approachable and engaging with a very confident low-key, empathetic demeanor and attention-getting communications style! An unexpected bonus was his informative sketches, anecdotal remarks, and humorous one-liner’s! Dr. Walzel seems to possess extrasensory perception as he addresses apprehensions and concerns before one can express them! His clear explanations of what to expect, before, during and after the surgery were liberally interspersed with comforting confidence-inducing remarks which allowed me to look forward to my surgical and post-treatment itinerary with minuscule anxiety and fear! Prior to this surgery, I have had half a dozen general anesthesia surgical procedures, however, this surgery experience was immeasurably concerning and remarkable… from those surgeries, however, Dr. Walzel’s exceptional expertise was readily apparent from the small incisions, beautifully sutured, minimal post-surgery discomfort and easiest recovery from what I experienced with those previous surgeries!

Recommend using this highly skilled surgeon. I would rate him a perfect 10 if I could. He is a very caring, compassionate, humble doctor. He has an outstanding bedside manner, takes time to thoroughly explain things which instills confidence. He performed a very delicate laparoscopic surgery removing a large section of my colon which contained a cancerous polyp. During my pre-op and recovery several nurses shared with me that when nurses need surgery they seek out Dr. Walzel. I am very thankful that Dr. Walzel was my surgeon. He is the consummate professional who genuinely cares for the welfare of his patients.

Dr Walzel removed my gall bladder and also my mother's gall bladder. I would highly recommend him for any procedure. Great bedside manner.

Do not go to this Doctor or allow him to operate on you. He was arrogant and completely dismissive of my pain issue after surgery. He had the audacity to compare my pain level to a male patient down the hall who he had performed a different surgery on the same day. He prescribed a pain med listed in my medical record that I am allergic to. Gratefully the hospital pharmacy caught it and refused to dispense the drug. He refused to change the order even though the nursing staff called him several times. After the 3rd call he told them not to call him again. The next morning after a horrible night and with the help of a patient advocate at the hospital, another physician took over my case. If I could submit this with a zero star rating I would.

Dr. Jack Walzel is an exceptional surgeon. He has performed several surgeries on me. The most recent was a double mastectomy in 2012. Dr. Walzel treated me like person and took time to explain my biopsy results and drew sketches to explain my surgery. He removed the cancerous breasts while working closely with my plastic surgeon as he built my new breasts. He is friendly and caring. I have referred several friends to him. I will always be his patient!

Doctor Walzel is the most caring doctor I have ever met. My husband had a very complicated and serious surgery but Doctor Walzel made us both feel confident about the outcome. He is a very skilled surgeon who goes to great effort to explain every aspect of the surgery and answer all your questions.

Dr. Walzel has done surgery on both my husband and myself and we both were very grateful for every aspect of how our experience with him went. He did personal follow up by phone with both of us the day after surgery and was excellent at communicating and answering all of our questions and meeting all our needs.
