Dr. Jackson Daniel Cothren, MD

A week ago I called the office to get a appointment with Dr. Cothren.. The girl that answered the phone I told her my name and she stated I haven't been here in 10 years. She asked me if I was still at this address I provided all my demographics to her. My name, address, and insurance information. She stated she will send me registration forms to fill and bring to appointment. She stated to arrive 15 minutes early due to paperwork. She stated to get my medical records for my pap and mammogram sent over prior to the appointment so the dr can look at them. The reason for the appointment was my mammogram and pap results were abnormal. I wanted a second opinion. She told me my appointment Oct 4th @ 10:45am. Monday I received my paperwork and noticed my last name was incorrect. I went to my appointment the girl at check in desk stated you don't have a appointment. I told her I called a week ago to schedule the appointment. I showed her the paperwork the office sent me to have me fill… out and bring with me. She took my insurance card and made a copy. This other lady called me to the front desk stated we cant see you. I said why. She stated you have a balance in collections since 2011. I informed her this was included in my chapter 13 bankruptcy which I am repaying. I told her I called to schedule appointment a week ago. Nobody said anything. The girl that scheduled my appointment told me Oct. 4 @ 10:45 am and she sent my forms to fill out. Nobody called me back to let me know I could not be seen. Or mailed me anything. I get removed from the schedule for my appointment and nobody informs me. This is unprofessional. I took off work to come to my appointment and drove all the way from LaVergne. The other lady didn't say a word. She stated you have a balance in collections. I asked to print the collection balance what is owed so I can give this to my attorney. The lady stated she cant go that far back. But yet she can see I have a collection balance from 10 years ago. The lady told me she deleted all my updated demographic info. She handed me a sticky note told me to write my address on the sticky note and she will mail me the collection balance. As far as the collection debt I am converting my chapter 13 bankruptcy into chapter 7. Most providers will work with patients with a balance even if it is in collections. I was turned away due to my bankruptcy. it would have been nice if someone told me upfront prior to scheduling my appointment. Wasting my time taking off work and driving all the way there. Very disappointed in this office Dr. Cothren is a good dr. but his staff he has working for him obviously don't know how to doo their job. I told both ladies my legal name and the older lady stated your name isn't the issue. Poor communication. And discussing my business in the waiting room so other patients can hear.

This man needs to retire again! There is something desperately wrong with this man.. During a hystorectomy,he damaged my ureter... He sent me home with 2 visits telling him I was filling up 20 urinary pads a day... after the second visit he called 2 days later and asked if I can get in for an emergency CT scan. This man needs to go! And after this happened to me, I got an earful from people about how horrible he is... Retire... Retire....Retire...

great doc wonderful bedside manner

I found Dr. Cothren to be very personable and caring, but he doesn't give you false hope and is very forthright. He does give several alternatives to each suggestion, which is helpful. I recommend him for the more educated class of women.

The. Best. GYN. I have ever had. I don't know what I will do when he retires.

Best Doctor I've ever had. Makes you feel comfortable even in normally uncomfortable situations. Truly one of the most caring physicians!

great doctor I would recommend to anyone

Very competent doctor. The surgery scheduler person is a bit terse. He seems to know his specialty and he is very easy to talk to about your issues. He is not aggressive and suggests the least invasive alternative first before progressing to more invasive, painful or expensive options. I found that to be relief given my past experiences with other GYN's who just want to jump right into the most expensive and time consuming thing possible. Dr. Cothren also takes the time to explain your condition and your options.

I've been going to Dr. Cothren for years and I think he is an excellent physician.
