Dr. Jakub Kahl, MD

This doctor is horrible and jumps to conclusions when you're in the emergency room. He assumes that you want drugs when you want relief and has tainted my record with his vague assumptions about me. It's sad when they won't give the folks that really need medicine the medicine, but they pump medicine to the ones that want to abuse it.

Barely listened to the issue and did not provide any guidance.

I went to the hospital for strep throat that I was previously treated for but antibiotics did nothing . I seen him literally minutes after I was put in a room & was treated quickly ! Got there about 9am & was home by 11 after receiving I.V antibiotics , steroids & fluids ! Quickest hospital visit ever , especially to have had to have an I.V .

I went to the E.R for a really bad vision issue. I wasn't able to see. My body was weak and it was hard to walk. After checking my heart rate for an hour and taking blood and urine, he said I was just dizzy. He walked in, and he walked out stating that I need to see a primary care doctor. So, I was released with the same issues, no cat scan, no vision check, nothing. The issue was going on the 6th hour. I said, so you're going to let me go home even though I cannot see you, he said yes, you are just dizzy. I was not dizzy, or woozy or out of it, I had food in my stomach so it wasn't a blood pressure issue. I was able to comprehend every word, I just could not see anything but really bright colors; blue gloves. Every time my head moved back or to the right it would get worse. But it was fine if I looked to my left. I told them about the same issue I had the week prior letting them know that I kept falling over side to side and got sick. He said, but did you get sick today?, I did not.… He did not seem to care at all and looked at me as if it was nothing serious. He was in the room maybe 5-6 minutes. The 5 stars are because it was a hospital setting, so nothing to do with him.

"Horrible Doctor - Worst Bedside manners!".... I have worked in healthcare all my life and the person who wrote this review is clearly a narcotic seeking drug abuser!!!! Dr. Kahl always takes care of my disabled son at St. Joseph's Hospital.... We request him. He is kind and caring and always goes well beyond the call of duty to advocate for his patients and ensure their comfort.

He saved my wifes life. She was in a severe car accident...... with severe injuries... and now she is back to normal. Our family is eternally greatful!!!.. Incredible skills.

Dr Kahl very inexperienced and does not care about the patients pain. He seems to enjoy keeping his patients in pain and is a poor judge of character. "pain tolerance cannot be measured" , and Dr. Kahl has an issues handling functional disorders, and refuses to discuss your conditions with family members, or yet even other doctors that have treated you in the same hospital. He could have given me a "drug screening" to eliminate his doubts that I may have been "drug seeking," which I was not> I am professional successful business person and I did not need to go to an ER to receive drugs if that was my intent. He has no common sense. He kept me in pain for over 8 hours, my family and I pleaded with him to give the proper pain medication as I have had a 3 year on and off history of a severe case of IBS. My bowel movements were 8 to 13 days apart, I was in the middle of a cyst marker test from Shands hospital which should pass through your large intestines in hours to 3 days, mine were… still in the ascending colon 13 days later, and after he gave me an-x-ray, he asked me what are those little metal things in your colon. I explained to him, but once again he ignored my family, my history and my knowledge of my condition and I explained to him "morphine" does not work on my body, it just makes me feel drunk, while still in severe abdominal pain. I explained to him other ER doctors have tried morphine on me in the past and it will not work and only lower my blood pressure , which will then delay his ability to give me the proper dose of dilaudid and ease my pain quickly. It took eight hours for him to finally give me 1-mg of dilaudid only because my wife spoke with my motility specialist from Shands hospital and a senior ER Doctor from St Joe's finally requested him to treat me with the correct pain medication. I was later admitted, my pancreas levels by this time were through the roof, and then a day later transfered to "Shands Hospital in Gainesville FL. St Joseph's Tampa ER is a great ER with great doctors and nurses, however Dr Kahl just isn't one of them. Very poor , the worst ER doctor that has ever treated me during the 3 years that I have been suffering from my functional disease. He should be fired, as he is a poor choice for the ER doctors group and poor choice for St Joseph's Hospital. If I was a first time patient, I would never have been back and probably sued him for neglect , mistreatment, degrading behavior and TORTURE. Again thank you to all the other professional, compassionate, and better trained ER Doctors at St Joe's, you have all been great> Can someone take Dr. Kahl under their wing and give him the proper training in bedside manners and help him understand everyones pain tolerance is different and "TREAT the Pain", if you have doubts the "drug Screen". My pain issues could have been solved in 30 minutes if he would have listened to an educated patient who understood their condition, and if he didn't or doesn't believe the patient then drug screen them, however, he seems to enjoy keeping his patients in "pain," like some kind of power trip! Protect your loved ones and avoid this doctor, very immature and inexperience and he will be a liability to St Joseph's and the doctors group over time.
