Dr. James Arlo Christensen, MD

After a very brief visit with this physician, I was scheduled for surgery to remove my gall bladder, which I let him do because it was urgent. As long as you don't care about bedside manner, communication, getting questions answered, or having a doc who cares whether you live or die, then I go with this one at your own risk. I had another physician look at my surgery paperwork and scans afterward to make sure my gall bladder was removed. I still have pain but no idea why. I'll certainly never go back to him again and wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy. Found another gastro who is great and a real person, not an unhappy sourpuss who hates life and everyone in it.

Dr. Christiansen would not do anything for my hernia. I had a scan and his staff called me and said I have 2 hernias. I went back to see him 2 more times and he refused to do anything. Said he could not locate hernia. He was recommended to me, but I will not go back. I have an appointment with another surgeon.

After rounds of doctors trying to determine the best plan of action for my father's sudden onslaught of a multitude of serious health problems, Dr. Christainsen was reccommended to us. What a blessing! He had an abundance of patiece and knowledge, with the rare traditional bedside manner. During our visits to his office as well as two visits at St. Joe's hospital for surgery, everyone we encountered on staff had the utmost respect for him. Rightfully so! He was amazing and thanks to him my father has been given a second chance at life! I reccommend Dr. Christainsen to everyone! The medical profession is fortunate to have him!

I went to have goiter surgery done. The doctor seem reluctant to answer my questions and showed no patience. Dr. called me at work and cancelled my surgery and told me i would not go along with his plan without inquiring about the pros and cons of the procedure. The doctor very rude and would not allow to express myself at all. I was shocked that a doctor about to perform a 15,00 dollar surgery could be so rude to his patient.

Not a bad doctor, but just not really great in relating to his patients. Seems to lack the ability to empathize with his patients. I prefer my doctors with a little "warmth" to them. My daughter was facing surgery with an uncertain outcome and was visibly frightened and he did or said nothing to try to calm her down. I would have expected some reassuring words to come from him and they just never were said. Now let me say that the surgery was successful, but we'll go elsewhere next time.
