I have always had a very positive experience under Dr. Bedrick's care. My problems are complex and my eye doctor referred me to him 10 years ago. He always takes time to answer my questions and gives me a thorough exam. His recommendations always consider my other medical problems and medications. He is conservative in recommending surgery but when I needed it, he was very specific in explaining the pros and cons. I recommend him to anyone in need of top notch eye care.
I sought a second opinion for my diabetic retinopathy and cataract. After thoroughly reviewing my histrory and prior records, Dr Bedrick exained me carefully and recommended a plan of treatment that would first stabilize my retina. He then removed the cataract which resulted in my regaining excellent vision. Had I just had cataract surgery first, the result would have potentially been bad due to retinal swelling.I wouldn't trust anyone else with my eyes.
I was referred for a consultation/evaluation/diagnosis by my optometrist. I waited for 2 hours and 15 minutes just to be seen (and after letting staff know I was leaving in 15 minutes if not seen). Dr. Bedrick did not acknowledge, much less apologize for the long wait. He did not listen carefully to what I was telling him, as he actually confused which eye I was talking about, and then told me I didn't experience flashes from that particular eye, it must have been the other eye (I know which eye I see flashes in). So I lost trust in him immediately. After my exam, he told me I needed a laser procedure right away (like in 10 minutes) or I risked serious and permament damage to my eye. I thought it was odd when I called to schedule an appointment, I was told I might need a procedure. When I declined doing the procedure that day, Dr. Bedrick insulted and belittled me because I wanted to process the information overnight. The moment I left the office, I called another Retina Specialist and scheduled an appointment for the next day. The second physician did a thorough examination, identical to the one I had prior, and found nothing to be alarmed about I am so glad I didn't let Dr. Bedrick bully me into a procedure that wasn't necessary. I feel like he was just out to make a quick buck. This guy is rude, condesending and has no social skills. Perhaps this is why he formed his own practice.
