Dr. James S Cerneka

After my recuperation from a acute appendicitis attack that had to be dealt with immediately I wanted to write a review about Dr. James S. Cerneka who performed my operation. I went into the review page for him and started to read some of the reviews about him. Needless to say I wasn't surprised about the great reviews he has received. A number 5 star doesn't even come close. There should be a 10 or 11 for him. What a caring and understanding doctor he is. He even made me laugh before going into surgery. After starting my surgery he realized it was going to be a little more complicated than he had thought. Instead of leaving my husband in the dark, he came out of surgery to the waiting room and provided him a detailed explanation of what had to done, and the additional time required. This is no ordinary doctor. I was so lucky that he was on duty that day. BEST DOCTOR EVER!!!

Saw Dr. Cerneka by referral not having much information. Hands down THE BEST physician we have EVER worked with. Skilled. Knowledgeable. Takes time. Down to earth. Cares. Not pretends to care but ACTUALLY cares... A LOT! He has taken care of a routine matter for my father who is a very high risk patient when nobody else would touch him. Recently took care of an emergency, life or death situation for my father and went so far above and beyond. He wasn't on call, he wasn't at the hospital, but he took care of him. I truly believe he is a little known miracle. Possibly the 8th wonder of the world.

Dr. Cerneka is one of the best doctors I have had in my entire life. Not only is he an excellent doctor...he has an excellent bedside manner. He listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. I always felt he truly cared about me as a person.

I had a sudden colon rupture, the foreign "attending" doctors in the hospital referred to it as "micro-perforations", the usual move is wait and see it if stops, from the pain I had, It was clearly more. After a day of me getting sicker and the hospital frankly doing nothing about it, he came and saw me, within 5 minutes and a couple of presses on my abdomen, I was rushed to emergency surgery, after the surgery, he exclaimed to my wife "if we had waited a couple more hours, we may be making different arrangements." I had a colostomy with no issues whatsoever, and he did the reverse colectomy 5 months later to put the plumbing back in place and perfect ever since. My wife also had a colon resection and all perfect as well. He takes time, explains, just an all-around good dude and that doesn't ever make you feel like you ask too much, as A LOT of doctors do. He saved my life, he can save yours too.

The best surgeon ever! Friendly, experienced, and with great bedside manners. I highly recommend him.

Dr. Cerneka took the time to diagnose my gall bladder issue. While there was another condition that delayed my surgery, he worked with that doctor to insure I was cared for as quickly as possible. His cheerful attitude and no-nonsense approach gave me peace of mind that I was in the right hands.

Caring, patient, thorough, professional, grounded. He cares about his patients. On top of all that...he is a surgeon.

I was directed to take my 12-year old son to Mercy Gilbert Hospital after our PCP examined him and thought he may have appendicitis. We got to the ER at 3:15pm and he had 2 sets of CT scans and was examined by another Dr, (Carillo), who said she couldn't find anything and suggested we take him home. After 7 hours of waiting in the ER and not really getting anywhere, Dr. Cerneka came in to examine him, and diagnosed him within minutes, and had him in surgery 45 minutes later. His appendix had ruptured and an abcess had started forming, but if it hadn't been for Dr. Cerneka, things could have been worse. My son's back to normal and we're all so grateful to Dr. Cerneka for taking the time to really examine him and not shove us out the door!!

Did not follow up with our family after the sudden and unexplained death of our father in his care.
