Dr. James David Imbrock, MD

I am grateful for the wonderful care that Dr. Imbrock provided, along with the concern for me.

Dr. Imbrock is very personable, funny and takes the time to explain the procedures to you. I went to him for a gall bladder removal in 1999. I felt comfortable with him and wasn't too worried, however, after the surgery I jaundiced and started to itch and was experiencing terrible pain that just wouldn't go away. I was vomiting and couldn't keep anything down and was just uncomfortable. A call was placed to Dr. Imbrock's office and I was told that I was just having a reaction to the pain meds and needed to change what I was taking. When I went in to his office a week later for a post-op review, Dr. Imbrock looked at me and said "Ick, that doesn't look good." and I agreed with him. By this time I was very yellow and had rubbed the skin off of one of my toes because it itched so bad. Dr. Imbrock sent me over to a gastrointestinal specialist...an older doctor,whose name I do not remember, who looked at me and just shook his head and scheduled me for a lower GI exam. All of this… occurred on the Thursday after my initial surgery. My exam was set up for the following day - Friday. After determining that there was, in fact, a problem I was re-admitted to the hospital to under-go additional tests. Saturday starts with a "special" x-ray. A tube was inserted into my liver through a tiny incision in my side. The only aesthetic administered was lidocaine. I was awake for the entire thing and by the end of it I was begging to be put out of my misery. The final conclusion was that Dr. Imbrock had removed part of my biliary tract, from the common bile duct to the pancreas. The bile duct had closed and bile was backing up into my system. While all of this was going on, Dr. Imbrock was up at the lake enjoying his weekend and I had to talk with his partner, Dr, McNamara. Sunday, everyone left me alone. But I had this bag hanging from my side. The bag was to help drain the bile and keep it from backing up into my system. Monday, late in the morning, it was official. Dr. Imbrock had screwed up the surgery. I saw the good doctor later that day as he stood in the doorway to my room, hiding behind his clip board and he said, "Ooops" and then giggled a little bit. I ended up going to the University Med. Center in Omaha and spent the rest of the summer there. The doctors at the med center got be, somewhat, back to normal, but I still have this recurring issue called Cholangitis that gives me a run for my money. It's a very painful thing to have and in 2010 I ended up back at the med center to have a drain tube put back in to get rid of excess bile and to open the common bile duct back up again. Now, in 2013, I'm looking at the same issue. And it's all thanks to Dr. James Imbrock. A man I shall not ever forget. If you are thinking about using him as a surgeon...think twice. He had 20+ years experience when he operated on me.

Dr Imbrock explained in detail his findings and answered all my questions in detail. Very pleased and would recommend him to others.

This guy is dangerous. He seriously messed up my son's groshong, put it on the left side, contrary to best plce to put it based on research. Then, it caused a clot in his arm, and guess what?... he did not move it to right side, and guess what?... it caused another clot. Now we are worried that tnis clot will result in long-term swelling in his arm and hand, if we are lucky! Could result in clot traveling to heart! Stay clear of this guy!
