Dr. James Joseph Chamberlain, MD

Dr Chamberlain is hands down the best diabetic specialist I have ever had. Having been diagnosed with diabetes 35 years ago, I have had several different doctors, so I have a good deal of experience. Dr Chamberlain is thorough and knowledgeable, and wants to help his patients have the best possible outcome from their diabetes treatment. He is a good listener and spends an appropriate amount of time answering questions, all without making the appointment feel rushed. And on top of all this, he is always right on schedule! I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes from my scheduled appointment time! His assistant, Maria, is wonderful, and the office staff is great. Everyone I have come in contact with there is friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this practice.

Dr Chamberlain is awesome! He is super knowledgeable about diabetes and all the latest studies, pumps, continuous glucose monitors etc. He is a no nonsense kind of dr. he tells you what needs to be done to improve your blood sugars and how to get it done. Being a diabetic himself just makes him all the better because he understands that a lot of different things can affect your blood sugar. With His personal experience he knows that real life with diabetes has a lot of ups and downs and its not always perfect. I recently needed some advice about travel out of the country and he answered my email immediately gave me some tips and called some prescriptions in same day . great service! He is also a nice guy and very friendly and personable.

I have seen Dr. Chamberlain for years, but since he has moved to St. Mark's the quality of staff and care has gone down. I went and did my yearly blood work and the lady stabbed my arm so hard I had major bruising and swelling (this has never happened before). The next appointment I had, the staff called and left me a voicemail with the wrong time, when I showed up to my appointment, the line was incredibly long making me 20 mins late, even though I was actually early according to the voicemail, and the staff said I had to reschedule for 2 months out! I was pretty upset because I did not think this was my fault. I decided to find another endo for my type 1 care. What I find funny is I have been on time for appointments in the past and have had to sit in the waiting room for 20-30 mins for the Dr., yet I am "late" (even though I was on time according to the voicemail) and I got the boot and had to pay for the appointment on top of that. I am very upset because I like Dr. Chamberlain,… but his staff is ridiculous, and he is very very expensive! Even with my insurance I was paying about $250 a visit every 3 months. That is too much for a working student!

I would recommend Dr. Chamberlain highly. He has been very kind and patient with me concerning my diabetes. He has done wonders in helping me to regain control.

Great communication, spends adequate time to explain or answere questions. Writes down instructions, results, and goals to clarify remind you when you are in between visits. Personally follows up with test results and monitoring of glucose levels. This DR. just gets it when it comes to patient care.
