I have been under the care of Dr. Puklin for almost a year now, I came to Dr. Puklin because I was un happy with a doctor at another facility and was told to go to The Kreske Eye Institute because they have the best doctors, after my first initial consultation with Dr. Puklin I must admit that I felt much more confident with Dr. Puklin than I did with my previous doctor. Dr. Puklin is a very kind, caring, considerate doctor who takes the time to explain to you what he has to do, and why he has to do it, he shows concern for his patient and he listens to what ever concerns you may have. Dr. Puklin is a confident doctor but he is not conceded, and I love a confident doctor. I would highly recommend Dr. Puklin to everyone that I know if they were in need of a retna specialist.
My Mother is a senior citizen with Macular degeneration, this is the second time we have seen this particular eye doctor. While he is an excellent doctor, he is simply the rudest man I have ever dealt with. I was an Emergency Room Technician for almost 20 years and dealt with trauma on a daily basis. That being said while he was in the room with my mother yesterday, I received a phone call on my cell and politely excused myself from the room. He and my mother came out of the room about 2 minutes later and my mother motioned to me to follow her. She then sat in a chair and motioned that she had to have a shot in her eye. I stepped outside to finish my phone call and returned to find my mother with consent forms for this shot she was supposed to receive. I took the consent papers from her (she couldn't read them) and began reading. I had questions and asked to speak to the doctor. We were placed back into our room and the doctor came in about 3 minutes later. I asked him "Why does she need this shot?" his response was "You don't need to know if you cared you wouldn't have left the room" I said "Excuse me! That was my insurance agent, we were involved in a car accident over the weekend" his response "You should do that on your own time" Now I'm thinking in my head MANY things. I said "Why does she need this shot" he said "She has a bleed in her eye" I said "What is causing this?" His response was this was the kicker "God!" I looked him and said "Really?" Now I have no problems with religion at all but I know for a fact that you DO NOT ever bring religion into a conversation with a patient or their family. His response was "Fine we will just do laser then" and left the room. Mom and I walked out of the room and went back to the hallway where the assistant handed me the consent papers I began to read them and of course had questions not that I didn't understand them but i was being asked to consent to something that was never explained to me or my mother. I became annoyed at the thought of having to deal with him again and looked at my mom and said "let's go, I'm sick of this s**t" and we left I cannot believe the extreme rudeness of this man. He not only gets hostile with you he tells you what you are going to do How dare he! While I do concur he is a very good doctor I cannot and will not with all good consciousness be treated or allow him to treat my mother the way that he did
Dr. Puklin was great. He goes above and beyond for his patients. The wait time can be long but it is out of his control due to emergencies that come in. I was one such emergency. I came in without an appointment and he and his staff spent hours with me. I know that others were forced to wait, but without his immediate attention I would have gone blind.
