Dr. James C Stoody has the following 2 specialties
A neurologist is a physician who diagnoses and treats disorders of the nervous system which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. These doctors do not perform surgery, but refer patients to neurological surgeons when they determine that surgical intervention is necessary.
Some of the conditions that neurologists diagnose and treat are epilepsy, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal disc herniation, and spinal disease.
In addition to using diagnostic tests like MRI, CT scans, EEG and EMG, neurologists also employ neurological testing to gauge muscle strength and movement, balance, reflexes, sensation, memory, speech, and other cognitive abilities.
A psychiatrist is a doctor with specific training in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness.
He or she can not only provide the counseling necessary to both diagnose and treat a patient, but can also prescribe medication when needed. In some cases, a psychiatrist will only provide the medication and the counseling will be provided by another healthcare specialist, like a certified counselor or psychologist.
Like other doctors, psychiatrists employ diagnostic tools like CT scans and MRI in order to observe the structure and function of a patient's brain.
Once a diagnosis is made, these specialists may use behavior or cognitive therapy in order to address the patient's condition, or a multitude of other types of therapy, in conjunction with or in place of medication.

Very disinterested in me as a person and what I was going through. Heard what he wanted to hear, made up his mind and was not connected to the appt./me or paraphrased correctly what I felt. Every time I tried to explain further, made me feel like they were the same symptoms as before, which they were absolutely not. I have been dealing with my symptoms my whole life and so I know when it is different. He would not really look at me as he spoke, not personable or tried to connect to me and make me feel like I was really dealing with something important to me. Just get in, go through the basics, her you go, get out. Basically said, "hey you look healthy and your quick check doesn't show anything, so not quite sure what to tell you." Then he said, "what do you want to do?, I can give you something if you want." WHAT? ahhh, ok I guess, sounds like high level years in medicine solutions, to me! I mean can he at least explain or show me why what I was feeling occurs? I am an adult and want to learn from a doctor I am paying to give me information so I can deal with it. Then what he gave me was a drug that would, what I found out, make me gain weight- he rattled off like he was a computer other things, but not that. So needless to say I am not going to fill it or go back. Next! If you would have been personable and understanding, I may have just e-mailed you my concerns and then moved on, but hopefully your time in the business has not made you not care or sour. I hope this can wake you up and others can benefit because I have seen your results from others being good. I wouldn't have gone and pushed myself in if it was something I could tolerate and I definitely don't see it being "the same as it was before". But that's ok, I have a choice and my choice will be to seek other advice with someone who at least looks like they care about me.
This doctor spits out drugs and sends you on your way. He doesn't listen to you nor does he care about you. He lacks people skills and will tell you to deal with the side effects of the drugs but not give you any coping skills or tools for you to be successful. He even prescribed a drug that had the side effect of suicide depression and anxiety as the top three most common side effects. This doctor also didn't look at medical history or ask about changes. Did not offer support of any kind. He did not recommend taking time off from work to adjust either. He even got angry and yelled at my spouse and I at one of my appointments. Did not go over other side effects that could have been missed. Average dr appointment took about three minutes. He looks prescribes and kicks you out.
This person was my neurologist about 11 years ago. I am very surprised he is still seeing patients but I heard his name the other day and thought I would write a review. Dr. Stoody is a complete jerk! I was diagnosed at 3 years old with petit mal juvenile seizures. I was told by several doctors this usually lasts until adulthood. However, I just had a baby and of course with a newborn was extremely sleep deprived. I felt myself having mild petit mall seizures and not having a neurologist since I was a child I contracted my insurance who put me in touch with Dr. Stoody. Upon first meeting him he told me that my child has a 50/50 chance of having epilepsy and that he would be contacting DMV and my license will be suspended. Wait! What! I informed him I had been driving for 10 years at that time and I had never had an accident or even a ticket. He told me it was a danger to have me on the road. I said well how am I going to get to work and take my son to his doctor appointments. He didnt' seem to care! I had 3 appointments after this scheduled and after a ridiculous wait time they were unable to get me an EEG that I was up all night and scheduled for. Nevermind my husband took the morning off from work so he could drive me. DMV contacted me in writing and required me to come in for a driving test. I think DMV is unclear on what epilepsy is because me being able to follow the rules of the road has nothing to do about whether or not I can have a seizure while driving. However, I did do a driving test and past with flying colors so my license was never suspended. I have since seen a neurologist in Auburn who said that if I carry the gene for epilepsy my children have a 50/50 chance of having it. This doctor was absolutely the worst experience ever!
