Dr. James Arthur Westervelt, MD

Went to this Dr several months ago. The initial appt was fine. He seemed pleasant and knowledgeable. But my wife and I were not are sure and needed to think about it. I talked to my GP and he suggested I look into another Dr, not sure all there details. But he said call up the office if you have more questions. So we did and that is when all the problems came out. The woman we spoke to was horrible, she got very angry when we tried to ask questions about the surgery and insurance. We asked if we could talk to the Dr and she said no and hung up the phone. I called back my GP and he said there are problems there and then he recommended another Dr. This place is a mess and pretty scary if you are going to have surgery. So glad I did not have him do the surgery.

Everyone was very nice, however, I had bodytite on the arms and only see results on the right arm, the other one is bigger. I still have pain and numbess from nerve damage on both. I got facetite on the jawline and underchin..no results. I got accutite on the eyelids..no results and lots of swelling and bruising. I'm left with permanent scars on my chest from the IPL being too strong. It's been over a month and Noone has responded to my emails. I felt like I wasted my money , time, all the pain and downtime for nothing. Update..Noone has reached out with even an apology or refund offer. I have permanent damage of nerves on both arms woth lumpy results, permanent nerve damage around the eyes and forehead and permanent scars from the IPL.

After receiving a colon resection, which was an elective procedure for chronic constipation, He removed 80% without my consent, which put me into hypothyroidism, causing extreme lethargy,chronic diarrhea, weight gain,severe insomnia, depression. My life basically is forever changed for the worse. No explanation of what would or could happen. Told me I would be completely better! I wish I never met him.

Dr Westervelt is a very good physician, however, the Devise used to repair my hiatal hernia called the Esophix, TIF Procedure, (transoral Incisionless Fundoplication) is NOT. Upon surgery The devise apparently got lodged in the bottom of my esophagus and created a large hole and tear. The Retractors then did not retract. Upon exiting my throat it caused tearing of my esophagus upon coming all the way out. i woke up in excruciating pain. I was immediately rushed back to surgery right after a test to determine the esophagus is leaking. They installed a Metal Stent for 6 weeks of pure every second discomfort. Pain was unbearable for 5 Solid Months. Every second the Esophagus spasm to keep saliva down. Every second was misserably painful. i would not recommend this procedure to anyone. There are reports of this happening to others along with someone i know who almost died from infection spending 6 Months in the hospital. i myself spent a week in the hospital after only a day procedure was… to be performed. i would tell anyone you know to do their research before even considering it. Also Look up Dr. Westervelt. He has had 10 Malpractice suites filed in the recent past. BTW i posted this before and they took it down within that day. Truth should be told for others to know the facts and have a choice. Isnt that the purpose of a review?????

Dr. Westervelt is a truly remarkable and talented surgeon! Amazing bedside manner, uses innovative techniques and technology leading to faster recovery and clearly cares about the patients he serves. I couldn’t be happier that I chose him to repair my inguinal hernia. My recovery was fast with minimal pain and the one small incision in my belly button will leave no scar! I cannot recommend him more, he is the best!

This Doctor is absolutely amazing. Not only is he kind and compassionate but he truly cares about his patients. My husband had been in extreme pain from a botched hernia operation for 6 years unable to get anyone to listen to or believe him Dr Westervelt not only listened, he reassured us that he could and would help us. He has been there for us every step of the way. He operated a week ago and now my husband can once again have a normal life I don't know what we would have done without him He keeps the "care" in healthcare AWESOME DR! I highly recommend this surgeon He is the BEST!

Just had gall bladder surgery with absolutely no complications because of the noninvasive surgery, state of the art instruments, and minimal incisions which help the recovery process. I had no visible scaring. Highly recommended

Dr. Westervelt is the best! He is kind, understanding and has great listening skills. If he is your doctor, you are in good hands.

Would not return my call after surgery by him. After 2 days of horrendous pain, I had to go to the ER. I wish I had checked his license before my surgery
