Dr. Jane Melanie Kanowitz, MD

Terrible physician. Took personal calls and texted during office visit. Would ask me a question then didn’t listen or care what I said. Came to conclusions about my health without medical evidence. And was wrong after test results came back. Not warm not caring and a waste of time! Should not be an oncologist!

My sister went to Dr Kanowitz. Most uncaring doctor I’ve ever known. Acted more like a stand up comedian than a doctor. Does not listen and was taking phone calls and walking out of the room several times, in the middle of the appointments! When asked a question about treatment, she would belittle my sister and say “I already TOLD you” or just laugh and brush her off. I finally convinced my sister to switch doctors, and that was the best thing she did. Damage had already been done and sister went through most of treatment with an uncaring, cold doctor.

Dr. Kanowitz was my oncologist when she was still in New York. She saved my life. In addition, she has such a smart and funny sense of humor, and her comebacks to my sarcasm were legendary. I actually looked forward to seeing her every week. She made sure my nurse was compassionate and smart and who took great care of me. When Dr. K left the practice, she set me up with a great oncologist there. However, I must say I really missed having her as my doctor. I trust her implicitly.

Dr Kanowitz treated my husband while we were vacationing from NY. She was professional compassionate. She and her staff went above and beyond to diagnose and prepare my husband for his journey home. She helped us locate a doctor in NY and because of all her help, he was ale to begin treatment immediately. Her efforts made a horrendous situation as good as it could possibly be. I will forever be grateful for all her outstanding care and kindness!

1st visit, this doc informs me that I didn't really have cancer (diagnosed with DCIS in 2010 and had a lumpectomy plus 6+weeks of radiation), but I chose not to argue the point. 2nd visit, I called because I had bloodwork that showed low hormone levels and had been told at time of diagnosis that"cancer" was reactive to hormones and wanted to know if I could take hormones. Nurse told me Dr. Kanowitz would not discuss bloodwork ordered by other doc, but when I explained that this was my only doc who could speak to breast cancer issues, nurse made appt. At appt, DR. KANOWITZ CALLED IN A SOCIAL WORKER because she said she thought"the system was failing me". The social worker suggested I join groups so I might be able to network to discover other options for hormone replacement. I have heard from 3 other patients who have had poor experiences with her and was assigned when prior doc left. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS DOCTOR!

I was a little afraid when I went to see her because I'm not really wild about women Doctors, but she was one that changed my mind. She shows that she really cares. I was very lucky, however, I had stage 1 breast cancer she even sent the tumor off to another lab before she diagnosed my treatment for the cancer tumor. I really appreciated the extra little bit of attention just to make sure they were doing the correct treatment. Would recommend her in a heart beat! Very professional, but very kind! I don't understand some of these other comments just does not seem like her.

She is ngiht mare with horrible temper, ohhhhhhhhhh very scary

Dr. Kanowitz was very caring, concerned doctor. She showed much compassion in my our of need. She made me feel at ease and had a great sense of humor. She had a great bedside manner and would take the time out to explain things to you and help you as much as possible. She would spend time with you and made sure you didn't have a long wait to be seen. She would walk you into the treatment room and made arrangements quickly that you received your treatment as promptly as when the seats became available. It is a great loss to the practice at QUEENS MEDICAL ASSOCIATES. She was an asset to her profession.

THE OFFICE STAFF WHERE i SAW dR kANOWITZ . WAS NOT HER RESPONSABILITY. if THEY WERE THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN AS COMPASSIONATE AND CARING AS SHE.I felt very confident and relaxed under her care

Dr. Kanowitz is an excellent doctor. She is caring and careful and spent a good deal of time explaining things to me and keeping me calm. It is obvious that she knows what she is doing and cares a lot about her patients and her work. I wish every doctor was like Dr. Kanowitz. She is a real gem.
