If You Have an Opinion, Don't See This Pediatrician
Self-verified patient of Dr. Jason B Hitner - Posted on October 31st, 2018
When we moved to North Babylon, I transferred my son's care from our pediatrician in NYC to Dr. Hitner's practice with the expectation of very comparable care. Our son was 9 months old during his first visit with Dr. Hitner, and we were pleased with his enthusiasm, and what appears to be decades of knowledge. Shortly after, our son took a short fall that landed him in the ER and we followed up with Dr.Hitner as directed. Despite our apprehension to go back to the ER for further testing, Dr. Hitner assured us that this test would be used to rule out any severe injury, and it unlikely that the injury is anything more than a concussion. We followed Dr. Hitner's advice but when we arrived at the ER and discussed further with Trauma doctors, as well as the previous doctors we consulted with at the hospital, we decided that sedation and radiation was too evasive for a not-so-severe injury. We hydrated and monitored our child and within 48 hours, our child's cognitive abilities as well as behavior was exceptional. It is clear that he does not have any severe injury. When Dr. Hitner's nurse called to follow up, I tried to explain why we did not go further with the testing but was told by his nurse that sedation was only "just Benadryl" - which is not true- and seem annoyed by our decision. I requested that Dr. Hitner contact us so we can discuss further as I valued his opinion as our pediatrician. Instead, my husband and I were sent a certified letter terminating his care of our son. As a lawyer, and my husband as a former medical professional, we are thinkers and respect opinions of professionals who know more than us. I felt like this passive aggressive action by Dr. Hitner and his office was both unprofessional and offensive as we were disregarded due to the fact that we made an informed decision about the care for OUR son. I believe this practice did us a favor and we look forward to working with a practice that values the intelligence and decision-making of others, and is willing to listen before disengaging.

Idk why anyone would say he rushes or that he’s rude , Never has he ever rushed in any appointment with my daughter .. he’s always willing to answer any questions & he loves his job . He’s very friendly talks to me even during my postpartum he’d always ask how’s mommy feeling and recovering..

DO NOT GOTO THIS DOCTOR

I am being honest. We have since moved all of our children out of his practice. He often rushes through, you can see that he is agitated about having to answer questions. He is very rude to his staff which is clearly visible from the waiting area. I could deal with all of these things if he should genuine care for my children. For many years he only had one nurse to handle everything. Finally, for a brief period, he hired a nurse practitioner who was excellent, but was subsequently let go for unknown reasons. Now he has hired another doctor to join his practice, but we left shortly prior to his arrival. He has two locations, one for well visits and one for sick children. Often the two are mixed depending on where he is, and appointments are triple booked causing hour long waits to see the doctor. I would be very wary before using this pediatrician.
