I was left with a positive impression of Dr. Jay Barnettâs technical skill, but a negative impression overall due to his significantly deficient interpersonal demeanor. He casually began to make offensive and disrespectful comments during my treatment for no apparent reason. His assistant enthusiastically emphasized how in-demand he is when I expressed my shock and confusion at the lack of professionalism. No wonder the office was empty. I will be going elsewhere next time because the experience colored my trust in overall judgment, and because as a matter of principle I refuse to take my business to someone who insults me.
Dr. Barnett REFUSED to treat me because I was a victim of Assault. I have been going to this dermatologist for over 5 years. I am a business owner in Manhattan and have had a long career in the entertainment industry. Last week I was the victim of an assault crime by a stranger in NYC. It was a very scary situation. I had several injuries on my face and I wanted to make sure they would heal properly. Dr. Barnett, literally, kicked me out of the office and said exactly this, "I don't want to be involved in any court case or issue with the NYPD, Get Out." Even the nurses in the rooms seemed shocked; one actually gasped. After having the extremely traumatizing experience of being beaten in the face by a stranger, now my dermatologist has rejected me as well. I can't decide which was more shocking. I had already been seen in the emergency room and was simply visiting him for cosmetic treatment. It is clear that Dr. Barnett and his practice only care about making money and do not have any sympathy or moral standards. As far as I'm concerned, anyone who visits his practice is in support of him turning away a young girl who was assaulted on the street and looking to him for help.
I have been to quite a few dermatologists in NYC, ALL have been wonderful, accommodating and informative, even when they did not offer solutions to my scarring problem. Dr, Jay Barnett was impatient and got irritated when I asked questions, he then offered a $900 "special" fee for silicone injections and when I said I needed a few minutes to make the decision he said he should have charged me $1,300 for being unappreciative and stormed out of the office?????? It felt like I was in the twilight zone, his secretary was screaming at a patient on the phone when I arrived about some confusion with a bill, should have gotten out of there that instant. There is NO way I could ever recommend this doctor, refused to pay the consultation fee and since the nurse was present during his tirade and could not defend his attitude was not obliged to do so. Save yourself from an unpleasant experience that will leave you baffled.
