Dr. Jay Leslie Smith, MD

Went to this doctor for pain management - migraines, abdominal pain. Found out he was billing my insurance for shoulder/arm pain and treatment. Was made to feel like a drug seeker, now that I have a new pain management doctor (that actually ran testing other than a pee test) and accurate diagnosis, I can say he is the worst doctor I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. Legal drug dealer, cared more about paychecks than patients.

Very smart and helpfull. He has a genuine concern for me i know I would reccomend him to people with chronic pain.

Dr. Smith is experienced in his field; however, this may be his failing. His inflexibility disallows the part of his oath that says, "I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug." and, "I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick." The main issue is that once he has made judgment about the patient he will no longer listen to anything that contradicts that judgment. He has no imagination and will not consider there are things outside his experience. What he does know he treats adequately. The art and science of medicine has made many strides in the air of pain management, Dr. Smith has not grown with these advancements. I would not recommend him to anyone who… has a difficult or unusual case; however, someone with a condition that falls within his narrow parameters he would make an exemplary physician.
