I went to this guy a few years back for Blepharoplasty. Keep in mind I had a LOT of excess skin on my lids. Always looking tired, and angry. My drive was over an hour away, but was referred to him by another Dr. who felt he couldn't do it himself. Scheduled my surgery. Insurance was paying for my surgery, but I had a deductible. All of this was sorted out BEFORE my surgery, and I knew exactly how much I would be paying out of pocket. Went for my consultation and all I kept hearing from him was I need a brow lift. I had skin hanging over my eyelashes, but to REALLY fix the problem, I really needed a brow lift. This was at least an extra 3 grand, if not more. I didn't want a brow lift, just all this skin removed from my lids, but he kept slamming a brow lift down my throat. Went for the surgery, on a Friday, and before the surgery, his nurse (Jenny, I believe) also was slamming down my throat how I needed a brow lift, and how "we are all our own worst enemy". I believe this is part of her training/pay. He did the surgery and BEFORE the surgical nurse could get me out of the chair and to the bathroom which was only across the small hall, he already had his book bag on and was waving goodbye to everybody for the weekend. Before I went back for the actual procedure, I went to the front desk and asked since insurance had paid their part, what did I owe, in full, because "I want to leave here owing nothing". I wrote a check right then and was told I was completely paid up. About a week later I called because I had a LOT of skin still on my eyelids, and a huge, marble sized lump under my left eye. They told me to come back in, which I did. After reviewing the lump, and the excess skin still on my lid, "Dr. Z" as they call him, told me to make an appt. to come back in the following week and he would correct the problem (and I quote) "with no money involved". I would guess so, so he was the one that botched it. The following week I came back and stressed to him that since the swelling had gone down, clearly he didn't remove enough skin from the right eyelid either, and since I was already there, when he was correcting the left eye, would he take more off the right eye. He answered with a firm NO. Remember....I "needed" that 3 grand brow lift. Low and behold, I received a bill in the mail for over 500 dollars. When I called to ask why, since he was doing the 2nd surgery and was correcting his botch mistake "with no money involved", I was informed that ooopsie, they had entered the wrong code on my insurance, so it wasn't all covered. How convenient. Now, not many years later after it's all said and done and everything is "healed", I still have saggy skin hanging off my eyelids which doesn't move or go away when I "lift" my eyebrows, and of course I have more on my right eye then my left, leaving one eye to look more closed than the other. I guess I need a brow lift, because I'm my "own worst enemy". And BTW.....the positive reviews on here are from office employees.
I waited one and a half hours to see the doctor. He spoke poorly of the other 2 eye doctors I had been to ("They don't know what they're doing"). He talked nonstop so that I couldn't hear myself thinking. I'm pretty sure he never heard one word I said. I could not wait to get out of there and, when I did, I left without any diagnosis from him. At that point all I wanted was out.
Dr. Zuraleff injected medical Botox in my eye area. It was my first visit with him. I tried to communicate my God and bad experiences with other practitioners, but he did not want to hear about anything that had been done, good or bad. He was confident he could deliver positive results, which he did not do. He made my smile look awkward, and only partially addressed the problem I came to treat. I scheduled a follow up appointment to resolve what remained, and I was told they would have to contact my insurance co. My face hurts, I've called his office 3~4 times to see if they called my insurance for further injections to paralyze the muscle that was left, and now it's the labor day weekend and haven't heard from them. I called my insurance, and they said they had not heard from his office office at ALL. I've been waiting ALL week, and they haven't even called my insurance company despite my communicated discomfort. Pretty upsetting!! I Don't recommend this guy~
I recently visited Dr Z's office and found his staff very courteous and helpful. When speaking to Dr Z, he was very caring and knowledgable, and looking out for my best interest. He spent adequate time with me, not rushing to next patient or pushing me to make a decision. I was very impressed with my consultation.
