Dr. Jesse Lee Madden, MD

I was rushed to Mission Hospital with a ripping feeling in my chest. The first provider I encountered advised me, that at age 76, he could operate and if I did not suffer a stroke during the operation, or end up needing dialysis the rest of my life he could give me 5 years to live. In shock with my choices, I refused surgery. I was heavily sedated overnight in ICU, and in the morning saw Dr. Madden. His approach was direct, but compassionate, confident and reassuring. He had done aortic dissections with intramural hematoma successfully in the past and convinced me this immediate surgery was necessary and to approach my outcome with optimism. The six hour procedure was a success and given the fact I had only hours to live if I hadn’t, I have only Dr. Madden to thank for that outcome. Dr Madden just 3 months earlier, had performed a successful quadruple bypass on my husband when he suffered his heart attack. We can’t thank him enough for his skill and tact and follow-up care, and for… giving us our lives back!
