A pediatrician is a doctor who specializes in the regular care of children, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of illness in children. Young patients are often more complicated to treat because they are still growing and developing.
While pediatricians may sub-specialize in specific therapy areas like oncology, surgery, ophthalmology, and anesthesiology, in general, pediatricians provide services like vaccinations, health exams, and treatment of common ailments and injuries. In addition, pediatricians are trained to handle the complex emotional and behavioral issues faced by children, especially during puberty.
Pediatricians normally see their patients from birth until the age of 18, although some may agree to treat patients into their early 20s, if requested.

A neurological surgeon is a physician who surgically treats disorders of the nervous system, which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and nerves.
In addition to treating trauma of the head and spine, these doctors also treat disorders like epilepsy, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal disc herniation, and spinal disease.

I really respect Dr Brassfield he has been so good to me and completed my surgery on a herniated disc and all of my pain is gone I would recommend this doctor to anyone
I have been seeing Dr. Brasfield and Mark his PA for many years. I suffered a work injury in the 1990s and have been suffering with chronic pain since the time of my injury. Dr. Brasfield performed surgery on me which was very helpful for my preoperative leg pain. He was very honest with me about the chance of chronic low back pain. It is true that Dr. Brasfield does see a lot of work comp patients, but does not work for "comp" and anyone who suggests such a thing is simply uneducated. He is a private physician who gets paid by insurance companies. He has stood up for me more than once by going head to head with my case manager and carrier to get things done for me. I would bet a lot of money the people who have said anything different on this forum were likely faking an injury or trying to play the system. I live in SW VA and see it all of the time. I was injured, had surgery, live with chronic pain, and I still work. I may not be what I once was, but I am not "disabled" and looking for some big payout. Dr. Brasfield and Mark are awesome and if you are looking for the best spine care in the Bristol area do not hesitate to go to Dr. Brasfield and Mark.
I've had neck fusion by another doctor and was seen by his PAs. He DIDNT even have the professional courtesy to see me BEFORE THE SURGERY. I continued to have horrible pain for 6 months and remained for high doses of pain meds. I finally had relief for a year BUT IT all returned but I refused to return to that doctor. I went to Dr Brasfield and was first seen by the PA for a complete history. But Dr Brasfield came in and repeated everything so HE HAD A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING of my problems. Tests and X-rays were ordered and we are now on a treatment program. I still have pain BUT things are better and he's really working with me and CARES ABOUT MY quality of life.
