Pain Management Associates is the Midwest's largest and most comprehensive, full-time pain management group. We are dedicated to one thing: relieving your pain. Using a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic methods, we'll look for the unique source of your pain and recommend the quickest, most effective way to treat it. Our ten physicians provide service at two privately owned clinics and multiple hospital based facilities across the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Dr Ackerman and his team are wonderful, caring , intelligent individuals that care for their patients. Dr. Ackerman was nothing but AMAZING!!!! I was involved in a MVC was sent to him for injections in my neck, needless to say I was SO SCARED. His personality is Top Notch, he’s caring, understanding, makes you feel very comfortable during your procedure. I would recommend him 100%.. He was worth the 3hr drive..

Dr. Joel Ackerman was the doctor I saw this morning, 9-5-19. Although I was referred to him by a friend whom I trust, you just never know exactly what personality or character you will be presented with. I'm happy, no, overjoyed to shout out to KC that this man is one AMAZING doctor, being extremely kind, empathetic, and an obvious genuine soul. Not only did Dr. Ackerman take the time to listen, diagnose, explain, and then conjure up an action plan, and do so immediately, his ‘presence’ was just that of a breath of fresh air. Humanistic air. I feel so relieved that I finally have a doctor that is on board with helping me feel better, and understand the cycle of what’s going on exactly. Kudos to this man. I would recommend him to ANYONE. Thank you, Dr.

Dr. Ackerman is WONDERFUL!!! I was very scared and he was very nice and helpful in understanding the procedure. He is very caring and listened to what I had to say. I would highly recommend him.

I have been with Dr. Ackerman for quite awhile and have found him to be the absolute best when it comes to spending time with his patients and evaluating the best plan of action for long term pain management. My only problem is with Pain Management Associates that can't seem to get insurance billed correctly and calling to schedule an appointment and being on hold forever and no one picks up the phone. At one time I actually held for 45 minutes and finally gave up. He's absolutely the best and wished he worked for a totally different Pain Management.

I have had a great experience with Dr. Ackerman. He has been my pain mgmt doc for about 9 months now, gearing me up to my impending back surgery and he has been nothing but terrific and understanding. He always speaks to me with respect and takes time to listen to me. He speaks to his patients in "regular people" terms and helps you to understand everything he is doing and explains your treatment and condition completely.
