Dr. Joel Hayden

I don't even know where to begin with this man. Our normal doctor was out of town and we were directed to visit his office. Upon showing up the staff was very friendly and professional. The office itself is very nice and clean. Once we got into the room after the assistant left Mr.s Hayden enters the room. The first thing he does is reach for gloves but the box was empty. Once he discovered the box was empty he literally slammed the box on the counter. I was in shock but my wife being in the medical industry mentioned it happens. Once he left the room the assistant was very afraid and explained to us it was her responsibility and apologized. Once the Dr gets his gloves on he begins his check on our 2 year old child. He came off snarky and disingenuous. His attitude clearly relayed he didn't want to be at work or just didn't like dealing with people or kids. I find this hard to belie since he's supposedly a pediatrician. After asking multiple questions about our daughters symptoms we… come to to the conclusion a catheter must be done in order to get results. He struggled to get the catheter in and we know this only because she's had two prior. I don't believe he's done one before or has little experience. He hot mad once again and stormed out of the room. Once we left the room we went to the front counter to pay the invoice and the entire staff seemed afraid. This guy is clearly feared in the office by all the staff. The staff continuously apologized because they knew how he was behaving. I don't know how someone could have gone through medical school and be allowed to be around children with his lack of professionalism, skills, and attitude. I do not recommend anyone let this person treat or diagnose your child. This is coming from a parent of 3 children and been around doctors and staff to know what right and what's wrong.

I wish I would of read these reviews before taking my baby to this Dr. My regular Dr was booked so I came to him. Made me feel completly stupid with all my questions and acted like I wasted his time. Didn't even talk to my baby or my 3 year old who was with me. I don't know how this man is a pediatrician and works with little kids. He needs to have a little more empathy for parents since he doesn't know their story. Some of us are on little or no sleep and I'm also on my own since my husband is in the military and deployed. This dr made me feel like such an idiot and like I was wasting his time. I would NEVER recommend anyone to this man.

Dr. Hayden is always willing to answer questions in thorough detail with us. When we have questions about the flu shot he even gave us the complete history of the vaccine and why they give them. He has always been friendly and had good bedside manner every time we've been in. When he switched her antibiotics, he explained why. The MA's that we've seen have also been friendly. The front desk is a little lacking, not always friendly, but it's the people seeing my child that I'm most concerned about!

Receptionist up front was always extremely rude especially when trying to make any other appointment besides a well child check. They could never get my billing right either I constantly had to call with my insurance. So annoying I switched doctors

If you want a Doctor to make you feel dumb like you waisted their time and talk over you Dr. Hayden is your guy. I left his office crying with how dumb he made me feel. My Doctor was out Of The office and we Saw Dr. Hayden as a Back up. He was a complete waste of my time I will be not seeing him ever again.

Dr. Hayden is very short with his answers. He comes in the room, doesn't wash hands and stays on his computer the majority of the time and says basic statements like "that's normal" or "well she is a baby". For a first time parent this was a doctor making me feel stupid for asking questions I thought were reasonable concerns. My daughter has been to the phoenix children's urgent care on multiple occasions for her asthma and he has yet to prescribe her the medicine needed. She also had an infection where sores were on her throat, also taken care of by the urgent care because Dr. Hayden only wants to tell you she may have had too much formula or that it's a simple cold/virus. Never any help. His nurse is super nice however and always happy whereas the doctor acts like you are wasting his time and is in and out of the room in 5min or less for sick visits. For her PCP to never follow up and instead an emergency physician follows up says something. Go else where

Dr. Hayden seems bothered and unconcerned when we were in his office. He barely looks up from the laptop he is typing on, and replies " he is a baby" to most of my questions. I am sorry that I wasted months with him and so happy I switched to a new office.

Doctor Hayden is so far the best doctor I have had for my son. He is extremely helpful and down to the point without seeming cold. Out of all the doctors at east valley pediatrics I would go with him. :)

Dr Joel Hayden was the most unprofessional doctor I have ever come in contact with. The manner in which he addressed our concerns was appalling. A VERY high fever with no other symptoms is very alarming as a first time parent. He was very abrasive and had a terrible bedside manner. He walked into the room irritated and acted as though we were inconveniencing and annoying him, even more so when we started asking questions. We had never met him before and just wanted our child to be checked out. He didnt introduce himself or wash his hands (before or after examining my child.) The office staff was friendly but it took a while for Dr. Hayden to come into the room. He spoke to us as though we were over parenting and foolish for bringing the baby in for just a fever. How are we supposed to know there isnt anything more like an ear infection, strep throat, etc. The company was great about getting our baby in the same day but we wont be returning to that office.

Dr. Hayden was very cocky and spent hardley anytime with us. He was not interested in any of my concerns with my baby's health. Save your co pay and see someone else!
