Dr. Joel Kent Sears, MD

I had Dr Sears do a chemical peel on my face and he suggested he could also do it on my hands, even though I was young and did not really need it on my hands I asked him about it due to some aging facilitated by the work I was doing , using my hands. The people in the room during the time of the chemical peel, were not informed what he was doing and a needle was placed in my left hand and then removed after Dr Sears say what was happening. He then proceeded with the peel anyway. I was given a sheet of paper with instructions of how to care for my face and hands. It was not well written. After a day or two I called the office because something went wrong. I asked for help. Dr Sears was not there. NO help. I called again the next day and asked if I should not be on antibiotics at least because something was wrong. I had some old antibiotics and I started to take 250. The old Dr on call did nothing to help me. I called again and got in immediately the next Week. A woman looked at my… hands and almost fainted. they were yellow like chicken skin. Note( his dad had just passed away, and he did surgery anyway) Should he have proceeded with the chemical peel? he left right after to go to the funeral. This is what Dr Sears finally did. He gave me burn patient skin care. It is think gel-plastic like sheets to put on my hands for 6 months. After a year or more, after the skin had repaired the under layers of skin he allowed for himself to sand, yes, sand my hands and again put the burn patient adhesive on my hands for weeks or months. My hands for the past, about 30 years, have looked like chicken skin. Pock marks, old old looking. people constantly ask me what happended. Dr Sears repeatedly told me to just wear make up on my hands and told me that people don't look at them. I worked in sales, constantly using my hands to show product. He never provided an on basis daily cream and never responded to the one email message I sent. It has been a horrifying experience. He knows it . But he did not support me in the process to help my hands. To this day,, they look horrible. I have to explain to everyone in my life why my hands look so horrible. The judgement to do the chemical peel was wrong. The judgement of the Dr that filled in due to his absence was WRONG. The staff was not taking me seriously enough to deal with what was happening and it caused me a life time of living with damaged hands. If I have surgery that requires an IV. the nurse cannot use the hands as a place to put the IV because the skin has been so damaged . Why didn't the doctor followup? Or his staff followup? Michelle

Incredible Physicians and staff. The best of the best... I would not go anywhere else and feel 110% confident in the care I receive from Dr.Sears and PA Scott. Kudos!

My overall experience was very good. Very little waiting, the Dr. and Staff were very professional. They also explained what to expect during and after the surgery.

Thank you for doing a great job on the surgery. It healed very well and no infection with simple care afterwards with Vaseline. The stitches all dissolved and it is very hard to see the place where surgery took place. We would highly recommend Dr. Sears to do skin cancer surgery to anyone.

I was very pleased with the office, staff and Dr. Sears. I would certainly recommend them to friends and family.

There is always a certain amount of apprehension to a surgical procedure. The doctors and staff here are outstanding in helping you feel calm as well as explaining what they are doing. You always feel that you are important and that they really care. I give the entire staff credit for making me feel at ease

Very happy with Dr Sears and his staff. I would recommend him. Been to a few different dermatologist and have not been happy. They are just there to make money. Walking out feeling like I need plastic surgery, ears lowered....blah blah blah. Dr Sears focused on my issue and in 1 week it was gone and cleared up. And this was caused from another dermatologist I went to.

I came in with no appt with a non emergency need. I met with Dr Sears who treated a condition which allowed it to clear up. Dr Sukut looked at iron my regular appt and agreed it was healing.

The caring, personable nature of Dr. Sears and his staff was much appreciated and is, quite frankly, sorely lacking in most other health care facilities these days.
