Dr. John Anthony Donnelly, MD

John Donnelly, M.D. is a member of Christiana Cares Internal Medicine and Med-Peds faculty and is the Associate Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Donnelly earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 1997. He completed his four-year Med-Peds Residency at Christiana Care Health System and A.I. duPont Hospital for Children in 2001. He was Chief Resident in the Department of Medicine at Christiana Care from 2001-2002. He has been on the faculty at Christiana Care since that time. Dr. Donnelly is Board-Certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics. As a member of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, Dr. Donnelly represents Christiana Care at national conferences and on the national E-Learning Committee. He has had a faculty appointment at Jefferson Medical College since 2002, and in 2007 he was appointed …Clinical Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. As a faculty preceptor in the Internal Medicine and Med-Peds Resident Outpatient Practice, Dr. Donnelly has the opportunity to teach Med-Peds and Internal Medicine residents in the outpatient setting. He also attends to the inpatient Internal Medicine teaching service and works as a Pediatric hospitalist at Christiana Hospital. Dr. Donnelly regularly attends Medical Morning Report. He also spends a block leading a small group case based conference for internal medicine residents on the inpatient service. Additional responsibilities include, coordinating the internal medicine resident retreats, the resident teaching skills conference series and serving as the Director of Ambulatory Education for Internal Medicine. Dr. Donnelly has pursued involvement in multiple Department of Medicine committees including the Professional Excellence Peer Review Committee, the Medical Education Committee and the Residency Competency Committee. Dr. Donnelly is also a founding member of the Global Health Education Work Group and helps coordinate the Global Health Lecture Series as well as the Global Health Track.
