John W. Epling Jr. Jr JR., MD

Dr. Epling is a very bright man with a great personality which can be difficult to find in a doctor. His staff on the other hand....they don't follow up on phone calls or follow through with what needs to be done. It seems like you really have to manage your own care at times.

I've had Dr. Epling since I was a child. He is VERY approachable, very compassionate and he really cares about each and every one of his patients. I've seen other dr's. throughout my life, but none of them actually took the time to ask me "How are you, are you doing okay?". I like that when he diagnoses you w/ something he explains exactly what is happening in your body. I hate it when dr's tell you you have something (ear infections, bronchitis, etc) but don't explain WHY it happened, or how they plan on treating it. Dr. Epling has NEVER incorrectly diagnosed me, and as others have said he is NOT a big prescriber of pills. I think that's a good thing though, medicines have many negative side effects and he really takes that into consideration. He also never makes you feel ashamed for anything. He's never made me feel bad for being over-weight and when we do discuss my weight he's very kind, but honest and realistic about my health situation. I love him and I would NEVER switch.

He is a very knowledgeable and a wonderful doctor, but his staff is below the level of "poor." They are not interested in doing their jobs let alone doing it well. Its a true shame.

Dr. Epling, unlike many doctors, actually knows a thing or two about nutrition and its impact on health. He's not quick to prescribe a pill to solve a problem. Rather, he focuses on diet and exercise. He's very kind and spends more than enough time with his patients without making other patients wait too long, which I think is due, in part, to his staff's scheduling. I'd definitely recommend him.

Dr. Epling is a very caring Doctor. I feel blessed to have him to take care of my family. My granddaughter adores him. I don't have to fight to take her to the doctor's office. The dentist is another story.
