Dr. John K. Tsai, MD

Dr. Tsai may be a good doc, but he is definitely worthless for IBS and/or SIBO. After ordering multiple expensive tests (possibly necessary to rule out a physical issue), he never even mentioned basic common treatments for IBS and SIBO. Instead when his useless suggestions did not help, he even mentioned having a colectomy so not have to deal with issues and referred me to a surgeon - for an issue that was resolved with antibiotics and a special diet. He was also quick to be sure never to allow more than his scheduled 15 mins. for a visit.

Austin gastro has very murky billing practices. They changed my husbands preventative colonoscopy to diagnostic the night before his procedure at 5pm via email along with a balance due. We thought it was a scam, he took the liquids for the procedure that night and got hit with bills as soon as he signed into the endoscopy center. The bills are now in the thousands and should have been paid our insurance. The appt was scheduled with Dr. Tsai for months and they switched to diagnostic unknown to us due to hemmoroids he's had for 10 years. It was the PA who had taken notes during the consult that made the prodedure diagnostic and inaccurate. Terrible communication and very disappointed in lack of transparency. If we would have been told it was going to be considered diagnostic we would have liked the choice to proceed or not but instead they surprise billed us. Disputing charges with our insurance and beyond to fight this unethical billing scenario. Check the BBB, they have many… complaints about this same kind of billing practice from other patients.

Dr Tsai is very personable, professional, relatable. I found him to be thourough and answered all if my questions. His staff is smiling and friendly, as well as helpful. I would not hesitate to refer friends and family.

Dr Tsai came highly recommended. I needed to be seen and expected a wait if a month or more. What a surprise to see him within 2 days! He is caring and listened to me. He then did a brief exam and explained what the next steps would be to diagnosing my issues and what to expect. He was great! I am a visual learner and he drew a diagram to show me what was happening. He had reviewed my health history before the appointment and set a clear plan to diagnosis my condition. He was personable and thorough. Am very happy with him. I would highly recommend Dr Tsai to anyone with gastric issues.

My experience at the clinic and endoscopy center was excellent. Colonoscopies are important but not a favorite thing to do - but this health team makes it as simple and comfortable as possible.
