He saved my life

I had been sick for quite a while . I went to Gettysburg hospital on two occasions for diverticulitis . They sent me home with pills and no improvement . I went to a gastroenterologist same deal , I went to the hospital for a colonoscopy , finally was so sick , they weren't sure what the problem was . They transferred me to York Hospital and the care of Dr. John and his team . They performed emergency surgery to remove my colon on Oct.15 th . It was 5 days until they could tell my wife I was going to make it . I saw Dr. John and members of his team morning and evening . Finally out of intensive care , I felt like I was OK . The team the hospital , and all the nurses were outstanding . Dr. John became my friend , the guy who encouraged me every step of the way . I really don't think I would be here to write this review without Dr. John . Thanks to Doc , all his team and staff .

Dr Monk is an honest, caring doctor. He does not sugar coat the truth. He gives nothing but the way it is! I had some issues having my surgery approved and Dr Monk and his staff went WAY out of the way for me to get it approved. I have lost 135 pounds after surgery and am almost at goal weight almost a year later. If you are considering weight loss surgery, don't wait, call today! You have nothing to lose. :)

My surgery is in ten days but dr monk has always been very nice

Dr. Monk did gastric bypass for me in 2003 and i am down 167 lbs and work daily to keep it off. I did have another surgery done in 2005 and thanks to Dr. Monk I am alive today. I had a severe infection in my abdomen, from a previous surgery, done by another surgeon from MD I was in surgery for over 12 hours and Dr. Monk was there the whole time. He kept my family updated on my progress and he was totally honest with them and told them if it had not been for the fact i made the decision to have gastric bypass previously and lost a significant amount of weight i most likely would not have survived this surgery. Thank you Dr. Monk and i would recommend him to anyone.

Horrible bedside manner

Dr. Monk is the greatest. I have been a patient for almost 2 years. What I like the most about Dr. Monk,is his honest and to the point demeanor. Take or leave it. He did not waste any of my time and was straight up with his answers. he tells you like it is .If you are thinking about choosing a Doctor who is honest and knows his stuff .. this Doctor is your choice. I had a second surgery with Dr. Monk that saved my life. He is one doctor you can trust. His staff are the best as well. I trust Dr. Monk to the fullest. But best of all....... he always reminds me to enjoy life and have fun.

i had surgery with doctor monk he change my life completly i was 287 pounds and now i am 120 pounds. his staff and his assistance are awesome. now the only problem i have since i loss to much weight i am not able to enjoy my new figure due to all the loss skin i wish i could have everything remove.

As a I completed my research on gastric bypass, Dr. Monk and Apple Hill Surgical rose to the top of my list. Dr. Monk and staff take the time needed to ensure you as a patient have the data to make an informed decision. Words can't express my gratitude to Dr. Monk, Sue and Brenda.As a result of my surgery, I'm down roughly 160 lbs and am able to do things I never thought possible. From crawling on floor with my grandkids, to running a half marathon.
