Dr. John Kellogg Parsons, MD

I met Dr. Parson after I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Dr. Parsons thoroughly reviewed my MRI and test reports and provided multiple treatment options. He was exceptionally clear when presenting the medical procedures and was very patient in responding to my concerns and uneducated questions. I was impressed by his professionalism, experience, and true empathy, and decided to proceed with a Radical Prostatectomy. Dr. Parsons performed nothing short of “Magic”! The surgery went exceptionally well; no side effects, no pain, and a quick recovery. Dr. Parsons followed my recovery closely, visiting me when I woke up after the surgery and the next day in the recovery room. He called me at home to check on my progress. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Parsons and his team. I would like to offer 10-star review, but the software limits me to 5.

You've heard the expression: "It takes a village." Well, let me modify that to say: "It takes a team!" And Dr. J. K Parson's Urology team is simply AWESOME. I'd have to say excellence flows from the top down. Dr. Parsons himself is as gracious as he is knowledgeable and competent. Currently, he is the only Urologist in San Diego to perform transperineal biopsies. Take it from that, that he's one of the top Doctors in his field in the nation. But for me, bedside manner is highly important also, and he is head and shoulders above so many other Doctors in that respect. And my interaction with others on his team has also been one of excellence at every turn. Anesthesia Dr. Andrea Yoder was especially caring and superb at her craft. She visited me before surgery, and was extraordinarily comforting and kind. And then she put me to sleep in seconds, and later after I woke up, no pain at all...and in fact, I felt no pain whatsoever thereafter. I was truly amazed. I was also impressed… with Karla and Carly both operating nurses and Theresa Diaz, Nurse's Assistant to Dr. Parsons. And then ultimately high praises to Anne-Marie Fernando, Care Coordinator for Dr. Parsons. So bottom line, I cannot recommend Dr. Parsons and team high enough. The team gets an A+ from this humble Professor !

He is bright, right to the point, good diagnostician, very clear about what he is doing and what are your options. While doing a procedure he communicated well with me and continued to put me at ease. I liked his staff too and found all the people professional and caring.

This was my first appointment with Dr. Parsons. In previous years I had seen his father Lowell Parsons who is also a urologist. I was very satisfied. More appointments are expected and I hope to continue to be pleased with him.

Smooth process throughout. Nurse Practitioner was excellent. recommended a new minimally-invasive procedure- Urolift. he'd completed 5 at the time. opted to wait!
