Dr. John Michael Putman, MD

Dr Putman and his staff are great. I have been going there for 3 years now and his nurses are fantastic. However his office manager Tina is extremely rude. I only have had to speak with her a handful of times but each time she has been everything but respectful. If you have a question she makes you feel as if you are bothering her. I was left waiting in the waiting room for over two hours, went to the desk to see how much longer (doesn't usually happen do I thought maybe they had something going on) Tina walks out to sit across from and say one of the girls forgot to mark you here and went to lunch. We can see you in about another 30min. (no apology) I explained to her I had to get my kids from school she shrugged her shoulders and said well. She stood up and walked away and didn't say another word. She has no people skills. She is not caring. There are a few more times she has just treated me like an inconvenience. If it wasn't too much trouble and money to switch to a new doctor I… would. She sighs really loudly when asking her questions that I am able to hear her over the phone. It makes you feel just completely awful and small. If I started over again knowing what I know now I would choose a different facility where their patients are valued.

DR PUTMAN CAME IN THE ROOM AND LOOKED AT THE SONOGRAM AND TOLD ME AND MY HUSBAND THAT THE BABY MIGHT NOT MAKE IT AND IF I MISCARRY TO GO TO THE ER AND THEN WALKED OUT.... SPEECHLESS

Dr. Putman is very good at what he does. He explains what is going on very well. He is very clinical, but he will do everything in his power to help you. He even came in on the weekend for me. So as I mentioned, he is very good, but if you are looking for Patch Adams in the area of Bedside manner, you may want to keep looking. That said his nurse is exceptional, and most of the people who work for him are amazing. The back office person (Tina?) who handles his billing and insurance, she is not very nice. She has been very short with me every time I have spoken with her. These procedures are expensive and often cost thousands of dollars, I don't think asking what my insurance will pay for and understanding the cost is out of line. However there is another young lady who sometimes helps her, and she is great.

I love Dr. Putman!!!!!! He helped me have my miracle baby! We tried for 2 yrs before being referred to him and after tests and exams, my healthy baby boy was born beginning of this yr. Thank yall so much!!!!

Amazing experience and positive result I've chosen Dr. Putman because he has one of the best IVF success rating. I got pregnant from the first IVF we did! I really appreciate his help! Dr. Putman is busy doctor but he has an awesome team. Dr. Tarnawa, nurses Kristy and Andrea were amazing, very polite and helpful. I've never have to wait for an sonogram appointment or blood work. I was able to set at an appointment every time at my convenience. I did my blood work at 7 o'clock in the morning and I was on time at work, I didn't have to ask for time off.

I have really enjoyed having Dr. Putman as my infertility specialist. I previously saw another doctor who reduced me to tears he was so cold and uncaring and did not provide me with information to make an educated choice. Dr. Putman has been the complete opposite. After my first set of diagnostic tests (my previous doctor missed several important issues), I was diagnosed with TWO cysts that were dragging down my ovaries and a small issue with my uterus. Both items were fixed during surgery. Without these issues fixed, it didn't matter if I ovulated, it would have been a miracle if the egg found its way to the fallopian tube! Unfortunately, after several IUIs, I still did not conceive. We decided to go for IVF and fortunately had a baby boy after the first IVF. We are now hoping for our second. I will say that his staff was always kind to me I never felt uncomfortable, the nurses are awesome. Lily is the embryologist, full time, and has been working with Dr. Putman for over 20… years. She is AMAZING. She will speak with you about embryos and your particular case for an hour or two without making you feel rushed. Considering she is the one taking care of my "babies", that time just makes me feel so much more comfortable. Plus, she smiles a lot and will give you a hug when you cry (obviously a male doctor won't and shouldn't do that for liability reasons). Lily puts the practice over the top and she cares greatly about her lab and the protections for the embryos. This is her passion. Plus, the lab is on-site so there is no transportation to worry about for the embryos. I was recommended by a friend who said not one other doctor would help her to conceive, she has a baby boy. Dr. Putman take a lot of "difficult" cases from what I understand. I have referred several people to him and everyone has enjoyed having him as his doctor. I don't think a success of an infertility doctor should be judged by how many pregnancies are achieved (each of us has problems and some may never conceive despite science's help). How you get along with a doctor and key staff is so crucial. You will typically see the nurse, not the doctor, but you want the doctor to educate you on your options and help you to understand the potential next steps. The journey sucks, but at least having a team around you that can support you helps. Oh, Dr. Putman will not let you negotiate alternative medication to the shots for IVF, believe me, I tried. His view is that it works the best. At the end of the day, even though my bottom hurt like crazy, I want a doctor that will stand up for his methodology and help you to understand why. He and his staff and rude, short, and uncaring. I only saw Putman during my first visit and 3 IUIs. We went to his office 18 times. Sometimes we went Mon-Fri and his staff never spoke were never friendly. My husband thought they were racist but I think they are just plain rude. They never called after a procedure to see if it worked or if I was sick

Dr. Putman was never around. The only time I had a visit with him was the first visit. He didn't even show up for my big appointment of transfering the sperm over, the nurse told me she has done it many times. That just lead me to believe he no shows many times.I don't understand, all the "award winning" post of him that you see. He is quite egotisical and yes the staff is rude and doesn't like to answer any questions. Chrissy is nurse is wonderful, thankfully. Thank goodness for her!

I visted another doctor prior to seeing Dr. Putman and, I must say, the difference in the two experiences were like night and day. Dr. Putman is extremely thorough, he seems very caring and consciencious, and most importantly, he listens to you. I was basically read a script, had IVF pushed on me, and was rushed out of the office in my previous appointment with another fertility doctor. It was so uncomfortable and borderline creepy. My visit with Dr. Putman was anything but uncomfortable. He spends as much time with you as you need prior to your actual exam. He explains procedures and asks great questions to put you completely at ease. Since it was my first visit, I can't speak about his success rate for me personally, but I will tell you that his first round of diagnostic tests seem to be far more extensive than the simple bloodwork ordered at my now former fertility specialist. I would highly recommend Dr. Putman for the diagnostic stages if you're having problems concieving.
