Dr. John Raymond Hood, MD

I've been a satisfied patient of Dr. Hood for more than eight years. I always found him to be very professional and understanding and I had confidence in him. But now I have a gastric problem and I've called his office for three days explaining that I need to talk to someone and no one will return my calls. I don't know what is going on at his office but it appears to me that they don't care about their patients unless they are having a surgical procedure.

I went to Dr. Hood for right lower quadrant pain. He said a colonoscopy had to be done first before a capsule swallow could be done (which he said was what I actually needed). After my colonoscopy, he ordered a barium X-RAY and NOT a capsule swallow. Why does it matter? The barium X-RAY could have been done without the colonoscopy and for much cheaper. I believe he likes to order these minor procedures to run up patients' bills. BEWARE. Still no diagnosis and now he recommends surgery!

I really have never visited another physician who was as obnoxious and uncaring as this doctor. He was unfriendly from the beginning, and interrupted me constantly while asking questions about my condition. I feel as though I left more confused than when I arrive. If you like being condescended to, or you really enjoy rudeness, this is the doctor for you. I, on the other hand, went across the street to the other GI practice, and I now have one of the best physicians I've ever encountered! Worst to best...please, learn from my mistake! He is really awful!
