Summary

John S. Sarzier, M.D. received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida. He received his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine where he also served his general surgery and neurological surgery training. Dr. Sarzier did his fellowship in interventional neuroradiology at the University of South Florida.

During his education, Dr. Sarzier received advanced training in the endovascular treatment of vascular problems of the brain, making him one of the few neurological surgeons in Florida with such unique non-surgical skills. He also has advanced training in complex spine surgery.

While in training, Dr. Sarzier was selected to become a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the national honorary medical society. He also was the recipient of the Ambrose Pare Award from the Florida Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. He was recognized by the Honors Surgical Course and received the Award of Excellence from the Florida Infectious Disease Society.

Following his training, Dr. Sarzier worked several years in private neurosurgery practice in North Carolina. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He also is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (FAANS) and Tumor Section Member, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and Fellow of the International College of Surgeons (FICS). Dr. Sarzier also is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Dr. Sarzier is currently Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Cape Coral Hospital and Medical Executive Quality Committee. He is the recipient of the Patient's Choice Award in 2008 and 2009, and the Consumer Research Council's Top Surgeon in 2008 and 2009.

During his career, Dr. Sarzier has been involved in numerous medical presentations and contributed scientific research to publications of medical, radiological and neurological surgery interest.
