Dr. John Carl Scolamiero, MD

My sister was a patient since Dr. S. began his practice in East Rutherford. My husband has been a patient for over 15 years. He likes to do "tests" and bill insurance for whatever he can I had gone to him a few times, for minor things like strep or an ear infection. My sister has some heart issues and I never felt he has dealt with them properly. She recently was misdiagnosed by another doctor in the practice and ended up in the hospital ICU for almost a week. When she went to Dr. S for follow up after release from hospital, he and his long time nurse, who has also known my sister well for over 30 years, treated her like a piece of dirt, never once asking her about her hospital ordeal or even how she felt. I guess they were afraid of being sued and didn't want to say anything that could be used against them, so they didn't say ANYTHING. It was disgusting the way she was treated, and so I will now do anything I can to discourage anyone from going to this practice.

Been with Dr Scolamiero for many years and find him a great dr and a very kind man !he treats my husband as well and we always will and bless him ??

The office sent a bill with private information to my fathers house! I haven’t lived there for 7.5 years. When I confronted them they verified my correct address! Can you say HIPPA VIOLATION?!?! On top of that I took my grandmother for a check up which took over 2 hours making me late for my bloodwork at another office. I quietly called my doctor to cancel while dr John comes in the room and rudely tells me to get off the phone and there is no phone use in the office!!!! RUDE!!! I’m sorry but it’s your fault I need to call my other doc because you are making me late!!!! We will never go back! You lost two patients! One that’s been coming to you for 33 years! ????????????

High turn-over of foreign-trained associates -- whenever we got one to treat us like real humans (about 3-4 years), they mysteriously left the practice. Dr. John himself is unreachable, won't talk about patient care with us, and insists on an expensive battery of unnecessary tests to renew prescriptions that are long-term assignments. Simply not acceptable.

Been with Dr John for many years, he has helped me with my health problems, Spends time with me, always follow up visit, Accurate Diagnosis, Courteous Staff, very helpful, His staff of doctors know me, very happy, I have sent many friends, where pleased that they are open 7 days a week, it's like a mini hospital

Dr. Scolamiero is a terrific doctor. He is able to diagnose complex issues, and provides the correct treatment instead of just giving "standard responses" like "oh - you must have allergies." He really listens to you when you have a medical issue, and is able to drill down to the core and help you get well.In fact, I even started taking my 11 yr. old there because of "dumb" responses we were getting from her Pediatricians who had treated her since birth! He correctly diagnosed her with migraines, advised us to seek out a Pediatric Neurologist and helped find one (not an easy feat!).Yes, Dr.S is very busy - because in addition to being an excellent doctor, he also "Manages" the East Hanover Med-Care facility. As a businesswoman, I can appreciate the fact that he has to deal with supervisory issues, vendor issues, etc - as well as a full waiting room when he is at the East Hanover Med Care - so if he is "telling someone what to do on the phone or in the office room in a directive… manner" ... good for him. He is multi-tasking, and still able to see patients and help them.Also - if you need to have an X-ray you can have one done at the facility instead of having to be sent somewhere else. This is very convenient, expecially when you are suffering from severe brochititits and he wants to confirm that it has not become pneumonia. I highly recommend Dr. Scolamiero and the staff at East Hanover Med-Care. They have provided me with excellent care, without having to wait forever for an appointment, on many, many occasions.

I KNOW MANY PEOPLE WHO TREATED AT THIS DR.S OFFICE WITH HOPES IN GETTING CURED HOWEVER, MOST OF ALL THESE PATIENTS HAVE BEEN MISDIAGNOSED

he's rude, got too many things going on at once, treats people like they are beneath him. Gives tests for everything that insurance will pay for and you get stuck with a higher co-pay and never recommends going to a lab or another facility if he has the equipment. Going to a different lab or facility would mean less out of pocket expense for the patient. If you don't pay promptly the collection agency and courts and banging on your door. He is only out for the mighty dollar.

Moved from NJ & miss doctor Scolamiero every time I get sick. He was just always there & accurate.

It's difficult for me to believe that you or anyone else would take the review of a stranger for something as personal and unique as health care. I couldn't resist writing however because the other reviews look like they were written by the same person, someone with an agenda other than honest reporting. I found Dr. Scolamiero to be a competent, caring and obviously qualified practicioner. I would not hesitate a bit to seek his help for myself and my family whenever the need arises.
