Has performed thousands of colonoscopies; claims no perforations since joining Asheville Gastroenterology, where he serves as CEO. My procedure went smoothly. The staff are warm, friendly, and do their best to make patients comfortableâ?¦in spite of the frigid temps in the prep rooms where patients are asked to undress!! The only area where this physician might improve is in his bedside manner (he's quite authoritative and a little abrupt), and in particular his response to questions. I view myself as a thoughtful, evidence-based medical consumer--and in Asheville, there are many choices of providers. In pursuing a couple of my pre-op questions, he actually interrupted me to say, "The question you SHOULD be asking isâ?¦" which is kinda off-putting if you like to formulate your own questions! But perhaps that's a tolerable thing when you consider that the main goal with a colonoscopy is to get out of there without a perforationâ?¦and in that respect, Dr. Garrett performed exactly as… required.
