Dr. John David Weipert, MD

Dr. Weipert was all 10 of my kids pediatrician. All my kids love him. He knows how to treat kids. He has a great sense of humor. I never had to wait more than 15 minutes unless there was an emergency. His staff was always very good. He always treated me with respect but always covered all the info I needed even down to my last child. But he also didn't treat me like I was dumb or over reacting, even though I'm sure on occasion I was. My last child just had her last appt with him to get her missionary exam. I am grateful for all his care of my children over the years. I would recommend him to anyone.

we called after hours to chat with the doctor about our infant daughter. we are new parents so are "stupid". she wasn't breathing well and we were worried. He was having dinner and it was hard to understand him, mouth was full. He wasn't really helpful and treated us as stupid parents. Later we found that our daughter was suffering from a nasal infection and she was hospitalized. Too bad he had zero interest in helping us.

I have seen a lot of pediatric doctors that are specialists for one of my kids and i have never encountered a doctor with such horrible bedside manner as this one. I would rather go visit an ER than to go to him again if needed as an on call. A good doctor is one that listens thoroughly to the parent's concerns/needs, and doesn't claim to know more than everyone else just because he has a medical degree. I don't care how long you practice as a doctor, you always have a lot to learn.

Don't get me wrong, I feel as though Dr. Weipert is knowledgeable and a good physician in that respect, but I have had so many issues with his office staff as well as rude comments from him which has resulted in me switching to a different pediatrician.My son was curled into a ball on the floor crying, saying that his side hurt. It was night time, it wasn't the same side as his appendix, so I told him it was probably just gas. The next day he came home from school, saying that he had blood in his urine. Took him in to see Dr. Weipert, did a UA and sure enough "quite a bit of blood" as per Dr. Weipert. Dr. Weipert was great during this visit.I have 3 children, all of whom have been seen by Dr. Weipert, so we've been enough that I would think he would remember who we are - but I get it - he can't remember everyone, I have a horrible memory myself.Dr. Weipert described a few things that it could be, but wanted to wait for lab results to determine. He put him on antibiotics in the… mean time and said that if he had fever, back pain, headache, or nausea/vomiting to call.(3 weeks prior to this visit I took my son in to see Dr. Weipert because he had a sore throat. I explained that I had JUST been seen by a Dr. accross the street for a sore throat and it was strep. He looked in his throat and said it looked fine but that he could test it if I wanted. I said, "No, I trust you." That was a mistake I leared from - It would've saved much time, and money to have tested for strep. That was my fault for not having him test.)So of course it's the weekend and he ends up with fever, nausea, and headache. Saturday morn. I called the after hours number. The best they did was have a nurse call me. I explained the symptoms and what Dr. Weipert said at the appt. and she tells me that there's nothing she could do, but to call if the symptoms get worse. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!I called to find out lab results - there was no growth on the UA. So I'm left wondering what is wrong with him if there is blood in his urine - but no bacteria.Sunday morning he wakes me up crying that his back hurts "here and here" directly behind each kidney. His fever is higher and now has ALL 4 symptoms.I call again and again get the same nurse. I ask if there is any possible way to get a message to Dr. Weipert so that he can let me know what could be going on or what he'd like me to do. She states that they aren't allowed to do that. She said I could wait and get an appt. at 2:30 with a different pediatrician, but that in order to have any lab run or anything that he would have to be at a hospital since it was a Sunday.I asked if there was a way to verbally speak to ANY physician about it, but one wouldn't be available till 2:30 to even talk to.At this point I was worrying about his kidney's and possible damage so I took him to Primary Children's.I was concerned about Post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis (sp?) as I wondered if he had strep the whole time untreated, and now with this random kidney pain and blood in urine w/out bact. one has to wonder.He tested positive for strep.Another UA was taken, again, no bacteria, but also no blood and no signs of kidney damage.They said to follow up with Weipert which I did. When I was explaining the story, trying to remind him of the situation starting with the blood in urine which was only a week prior, he RUDELY said, "You're saying do you remember this and that, but I don't remember."That should've been enough right there.Since that incidence, I have felt as though I am treated as the "crazy lady" whom is a hypochondriac or something, and I feel as though he does not listen well.I'm not crazy and I'm not an idiot either. I have worked in the medical field for 12 years now and am fully aware of how well it should work.Beyond the 2 month span of this situation, I've rarely had to take my kids to the Dr. I'm a firm believer in letting them get over things on their own if they can before having to result to antibiotics. But I'm a mom, and I know when something is not right.-----------------------------------------I was willing to put all of that behind me and give it all another chance until today. My so cut himself on a piece of metal Sunday night. No stitches, but I figured he'd need to get a tetnus shot.Since it was a holiday weekend, I called Tuesday to see about getting him the shot.I'M A FIRM BELIEVER IN: IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER TO SOMETHING, JUST SAY YOU DON'T KNOW AND CHECK - INSTEAD OF GIVING FALSE INFORMATION.I was told over the phone by the staff that my son didn't need a tetnus shot. "Really? I thought if you were cut by metal and haven't had a Tetnus shot within the last 5 years, you needed one.""Yeah, that's right.""Well, that would be the situation that my son is in considering his was more than 5 years ago.""Oh, okay, let me ask."UGH!!!They proceed to tell me I can come in tomorrow. I then ask, "Isn't there a timeline that you have to have the shot within after getting cut?""Let me check. No."(I have a husband that has been through this, so I know full well that there is a timeline. HELLO - that's common sense.)I explain to her that there is and that I NEED to have him come in. Honestly, I'm about ready to offer to give him the shot myself!!!We go in. Wait........wait.........wait....40 minutes later she gives the shot in about 3 seconds. I had asked when I got there if my daughter could get her shot too (2nd in a series for 7th grade shots). It was ONE shot that would've taken oh, about 3 seconds, and they couldn't do it. There was no one else in the waiting room. They did have a couple people in rooms waiting and only one nurse there that day, but come on....3 seconds?Plus I could hear the receptionist still filling appointments for that day. But they told me I'd have to come back another day for that.WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disregard the negative comments above. This man is never behind and their records are always up to date. Also, to the negative poster.... do you think its abnormal for somebody to have the same day off every week?? Also you do know that when doctors are outside of the office on business days, most of the time they are at the hospitals in the area seeing sick patients there as well, performing circumcisions, admitting kids, etc. All in all, Dr weipert is an excellent doctor and has always provided top notch care to my family. He is the most medically knowledgeable person i know. Fell comfortable in choosing him as a physician for your children.

He was our son's pediatrician at the hospital when he was born. Our son had some complications at birth, and Dr. Weipert kept us informed on what was going on every step of the way. He would even call us when we weren't at the hospital to let us know what to expect for our son that day. He was very kind, very knowledgable, and really cared. I have referred several of my friends and family members to him, and they are all as happy with him as we are.
