Dr. John Elmer Whitcomb, MD

Dr. Whitcomb has cutting edge ideas and an integrative approach to treating his patients, but unfortunately, his office staff makes the first and lasting impressions of the practice. My experiences with all but one of the office staff have been extremely and consistently negative and unprofessional, especially for medication management and refills, and they do not know how to effectively communicate with patients. They do not return calls or emails in a timely manner and when they do, they berate patients about tests that haven’t been done in order to get a one week out-of-date prescription refilled. They lack medical knowledge and seem to not care at all about the patient’s needs or concerns. They’ve even gone as far as blocking email replies regarding legitimate questions that were not answered for over seven business days. I hope Dr. Whitcomb realizes how much their unprofessionalism and negative approach are hurting his practice, because I will never return there nor will I… ever recommend anyone to his office – the resulting frustration and anxiety far outweigh any benefits from seeing the doctor!

Whitcomb ordered expensive, unnecessary tests (per my consult with a specialist in the same field of medicine) such as a test for heavy metals. His office staff repeatedly promised to return my calls with questions about the tests and never did. Nor did he return any calls or emails. My friend had the same experience. He even assured her some of the tests he ordered and provided for her were covered by her insurance company and in fact none of them were. Both of us had our test results sent to more responsive doctors who genuinely want to help people feel better. If you expect to get what you pay for with Dr. Whitcomb, you will be disappointed.
