Dr. Jonathan Kessler, MD

With board certification in both diagnostic and interventional radiology, Jonathan Kessler, M.D., helps detect and treat a wide variety of cancers.Dr. Kessler joined City of Hope in 2012. He received his medical degree at University of Pennsylvania and completed his residency and fellowship training at University of California Los Angeles. He serves as Chief of the Division of Interventional Radiology.Dr. Kessler performs a range of interventional radiology procedures and minimally invasive cancer treatments. He and his team use sophisticated image guidance to target and treat tumors in the liver, lungs, kidneys and bone. Treatments include tumor embolization (such as chemoembolization and Yttrium-90 radioembolization) as well as targeted tumor ablation using microwave, cryotherapy, irreversible electroporation/pulsed field and radiofrequency ablation.Dr. Kessler and his team also treat many of the painful complications of cancer. As part of the multidisciplinary team treating thyroid disorders, Dr. Kessler leads the group of physicians performing thyroid nodule ablation.
