Dr. Jonathan D Trobe has the following 2 specialties
An ophthalmologist has the training to do much more than just prescribe glasses. They are physicians specially trained to diagnose and treat disorders of the eyes and vision. These doctors are experts on the complicated anatomy of the eye and are trained to treat eye diseases through both medical and surgical methods.
Some common conditions that ophthalmologists treat are cataracts, glaucoma, strabismus, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration and amblyopia. In addition, ophthalmologists can provide prescriptions for eye glasses and contact lenses and perform LASIK surgery and other corrective surgeries for refractive errors like myopia (near-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness), astigmatism and presbyopia.
A neurologist is a physician who diagnoses and treats disorders of the nervous system which is comprised of the brain, spinal cord and nerves. These doctors do not perform surgery, but refer patients to neurological surgeons when they determine that surgical intervention is necessary.
Some of the conditions that neurologists diagnose and treat are epilepsy, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke, spinal disc herniation, and spinal disease.
In addition to using diagnostic tests like MRI, CT scans, EEG and EMG, neurologists also employ neurological testing to gauge muscle strength and movement, balance, reflexes, sensation, memory, speech, and other cognitive abilities.

Dr. Trobe is the worst doctor that I have ever seen in my life. He told me that my pain was all in my head and that I needed to see a psychotherapist. He was rude and dismissive, and talked entirely to my mother instead of to me. I would very highly recommend seeing another doctor if you want to get answers and be treated with respect.
I was also sent to this so called doctor by my auto insurance company to perform a vision evaluation on me called an "Independent Medical Evaluation or and IME." In fact, I call them "Insurance" Medical Evaluation and NOT independent because they are far away from being independent, and I will tell you why they are not independent in a minute. This so called doctor evaluates patients who have been involved in auto accidents on behalf of auto insurance companies or workman's comp. So if you are being sent to this guy for an "independent" medical do not expect this doctor to say a word in your favor. He is being paid by your auto insurance company so this is not called an "independent" medical evaluation anymore. They tell him what to say in the report, and they make sure he says you do not need any attendant care. Let me tell you, this guy is rude, condescending, and would twist every single word that will come out of your mouth. Your insurance is mainly asking him to write a report that will benefit them regardless the situation you may be in. Paralyzed, your life was ruined, have had 10 different surgeries, all that is not matter to him and your insurance company. In other words, he will say there is nothing wrong with you at all, and all of your vision related issues are pre-existing conditions meaning that you have had them prior to your accident. Yes, you better believe that because it happened to me. That is exactly what the insurance company is looking for to cut your off and is more than enough to cut you off on your benefits. Your only course of action would be is to file a lawsuit against your insurance company like I did and won (thank God). These so called independent doctors are incompetent, don't care, heartless, and just lie for the money. They do not care if your life was ruined, it is all about the money to them. Their God is the almighty dollar. The question I always ask myself is, how can they go on living their life knowing they harmed so many people? How are they going to face God? How did they take the DO NO HARM Oath when they became doctors and now they are lying for the money? That is just beyond me.
I was sent to Dr. Trobe to rule out MS. He was very dismissive and acted like I was as if I were a hypocondriac. No tests were ordered other than a field vision test in the clinic area ... (I believe that was the test) Bottom line is I do have MS. and clearly I have had it for years. I have lesions on my spine, brain, and ended up with optic neuritis with vision loss! If he and his team would have taken my case seriously and not acted so rudely I believe I could have been on a treatment plan almost five years ago and prevented some of the progression and pain I'm experiencing now. I wouldn't go to see another doctor because he convinced me nothing was wrong with me. I cried all the way home. This doctor had zero compassion and even doubted my neuro's findings. I thought I was seeing the best by going to a U of M doctor...I was sadly wrong. I definitely don't think all U of M doctors are of this same caliper. I will forever trust my own intuition and walk out of a doctors office when they appear to have the God complex! I would never recommend this doctor to anyone .
Dr. Trobe should not be seeing patients. He is uncaring, dismisses symptoms, racist, and arrogant. Dr. Trobe told me that he had no clue what was causing my issues, and proceeded to say whatever is wrong with me doesn't matter, as some things are best just left alone. He told me to learn to live with my eye/vision issues and refused to do testing. I could possibly have a serious issue going on, which I plan to see another Dr soon. Do not trust this Dr with your health. His Medical license should be revoked.
