Dr. Joseph Henry Dannenbaum, MD

Dr. Dannenbaum and his team treated me for an elbow fracture after a roller skating accident. Unfortunately, it was much more complicated than anyone could've anticipated. My recovery required 3 total surgeries over the course of 8 months. Dr. Dannenbaum always made me feel reassured that I could put my trust in him and I felt that I was in the best hands possible. I never doubted for a moment that he truly wanted to see me through to a full recovery. I am grateful everyday for the care I received and would never hesitate to go back to see him again in the future.

I thank Our Heavenly Father for them. I realize that this is a bold starting statement so allow me to explain. For the last ten years I have dealt with progressively increasing levels of pain from my right hip. Prior to the surgery there was a deep burning sensation that radiated out from my hip that would bring me to tears. Sleep, rest was not available due to the concentrated pain that I experienced. Injections would only provide relief for two weeks and no amount of Ibuprofen would dull that deep burning pain. Since the surgery that burning sensation is now gone. Yes, I still have pain, but it is the normal pain issues related to a surgery that with time and physical therapy will lessen. Let me set aside my own personal issue to address Dr. Dannenbaum and his team that assisted him through my surgerical process. Dr. Dannenbaum's warm demeanor and personal confidence ingratiated this patient to trust him for the operation. Each of the members of his team that I personally came… into contact with also treated me with a personal warmth. This personal conduct only added to my personal trust and confidence that Our Heavenly Father placed me into profoundly competent hands. Please allow me to include the Anesthesiologists in this letter to thank them. They are a profoundly valued component that allowed the surgery to be preformed. Their warm professional mannerisms and concern only added to the calmness that I experienced in the operation. In my military background I realize that a commander is only successful due to personnel directly and indirectly under his command. In the Orthopedic Department of Madigan Army Medical Center, that began with the men and women who schedule our appointments with the medical staff. They are on the front line assisting patients with medical issues in their pursuit of relief. In waiting to be seen I have observed them deal with difficult patients with professional compassion and concern to address each of their needs. To the medical staff who begin the screening process to gather information related to the reason for the visit. Even thro the time of the appointment is short, they have not rushed and taken the time to be thorough in the endeavor to assist patient and physician. Yes, I am a man of faith in Our Heavenly Father and His Divine Providence and I believe that Dr. Dannenbaum and his team were an answer to my prayers. That is not an understatement when I was addressing in prayer the issue of having a foreign object inserted into my body. Now six-weeks into the post-operative recovery process, I am confident of that answer. Prior to the surgery I would work on projects around my house, one day of working would take three to four days to recover. I could not walk for any distance and now I can go for walks around my neighborhood. I am able to endure the hour long physical therapy sessions twice a week with minimal recovery time. As I stated before, yes I still have pain, but it is lessening each week. I have had Dr. Dannenbaum and the Orthopedic department in my daily prayer and will continue to keep them in my prayer.
