Had Mitral valve repaired with Dr Austin and everything went perfect. He information before had was to the point and he explained all that would occur. I can hardly see the scar from the surgery and haven't had any problems with it for over ten years. Great job.

10 years ago, my cardiologist sent me to Dr. Austin for open heart surgery. My first thought was: this man is too good looking to be a serious thoracic surgeon. Silly, I know. But first, I was given an appt at 7AM. I was prepped and drugged but left out in the hallway for HOURS. They did not start surgery till 2PM. It was December, right before Christmas and of course it was dark when I came around. However, it seems my heart was not pumping properly after the surgery. My regular cardiologist performed an angiogram while I was still groggy and saw that the new artery placed in my heart had a 'kink' in it...What?? So a stent was placed in the new artery. More problems after that, too. They had to perform cardio-version on me as my heart was still out of kilter. A nurse cut my leg with her scissors while trying to remove and redress a bandage, My lungs started filling with liquid....Two months later while trying to exercise, the pain was back. Another angiogram revealed all… the "connections" were blocked as Dr. Austin had not sectioned them correctly. Choose somebody else, please.

I was just a number and not a patient. He would stop in for about 2 minutes, bark at the nurses and demean them. I was on painpills but was alert enough to see this. His bedside matter were very Condescending and I felt like I was a number that he had to meet a goal. His work was below par in the many opertaions and we had to had another surgeon fix his errors, Another patient of his died that same year due to his mismanagment of heart area, A Cover up it was believed,
