Dr. Joseph A Shrout, MD

Dr Shrout is a highly rated. My experience left me feeling like he did not want to do anything other than the bare minimum exam. He asked a few questions that only needed a yes or no response. When I attempted to discuss my issues, he seemed dismissive. My visit was for my right elbow, however, I have received extensive therapy and injections and MRI s for my left shoulder. I wanted to be fully transparent and felt he would be interested to have a complete picture of my issues. I now feel like he didn’t care, because although my shoulder issues was not why I was there, and the MRI showed several problems, he nonchalantly said my shoulder issues are typical for a 67 year old man. I was shocked at his insensitivity because I have several friends my age and they don’t share the issues that I have. I provided two reports to him from October, 2025 of my left shoulder and one from February, 2026 of my right elbow. He asked why my sports medicine doctor “went straight to ordering an MRI.… That’s an irrelevant and unprofessional question for me to answer. It provided a diagnosis of a few issues, one found a partial high grade tear to my bicep tendon. I told him the elbow MRI was taken before I sustained a second, more painful and impactful to my daily routine which occurred 3 weeks after the MRI. Again, he was dismissive and seemed to not care. He told me to wear a sling and return in 2 months. I am unable to wait 2 months to be blown off again. Very disappointed with Dr Shrout’s demeanor during my visit. Additionally he ordered two z-rays, which were taken in his office. He didn’t say a word to me about the x-rays. However, I have no doubt I will be charged for them.

Didn’t have to wait long to see Dr Shrout and once again he fixed my shoulder problem. Really glad I found him.

He is truly wonderful, talented and knowledgeable. No matter how much I say about him, it will never be enough. Go see for yourself and you will never regret it

He’s great! Highly competent, thorough, skilled, and explained my joint problem well. He’s got a nice manner about him as well.

Dr. Shrout and his staff are so friendly and professional and make you feel very comfortable. Dr. Shrout listens to your concern and explains everything in a way you can understand.

Due to my GPS sending me to the building across the street, I was over 45 mins late for first appt with Dr. Shrout. Even so, he made time to see me and explained everything very well. The whole staff was very nice. I hope no one else has trouble finding the place since they moved across the street. Don't trust GPS. But do make the appt with Dr Shrout.

Fantastic experience with Dr. Shrout. Got a referral and was able to be seen a few days later at a convenient time for my schedule; normally with specialists I have to wait months to get an appointment. He was able to complete a minor procedure in office during my first visit that immediately resolved my issue. Great communication and clarity of diagnosis. Would recommend him to anyone!

This was my first visit to this office. Short wait time, Courteous staff. Dr. Shout was thorough, empathic, professional. He explained my injury and treatment fully and clearly. I'm very grateful that he is my doctor and will definitely continue with his care as needed. And I have already recommended him to a friend.

Excellent communication very thorough attentive clear explanation of issue and doesn’t hurt you when giving a cortisone shot!
