Dr. Joseph Paul Stapleton, MD

Dr. Stapleton came highly recommended from other doctors in the community but my experience with his nurse, David Klarberg, left such a bad taste in my mouth that I will not be moving forward with this practice as a patient. David was rude, condescending, dismissed my concerns, and offered absolutely nothing of value. In the same conversation, he suggested surgery and additional ‘procedures’ (unspecified), and so told me that there was no medication management but that taking Cbd with even a little thc (for pain) would not be tolerated. my copay and 2 hours of my day back. When I left the office, I asked for Dr. Stapleton’s contact information so I could share my concerns with his staff, they said to e-mail their general inbox. If you go to this Dr., make a special request to not see David. Anecdotally, I could not find any positive reviews about David.

I had the procedure done with Stapelton and when I experienced a few symptoms listed on the discharge with instructions to call in if experienced. I was told in a dismissive tone these are normal. Why then are you asked to call in if these symptoms are normal after the procedure??? My condition in fact worsened, a different pain, deeper to the core. When I called to speak to Stapelton I was told "he doesn't speak to patients" ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I was off the hook! I made it clear he'll be talking to me on the phone toady or I'll be sitting in his kitchen tonight talking with him when he gets home from work. He called back with in 15 minutes... WHAT NERVE,really!! He dismissed this increased pain as further degeneration and was coincidental in timing. Yea and the moon is made of cheese. I would avoid this practice at all costs, just move along! Do your research. I am now on the hunt for a fix to his mis-step. If it is determined he was at all in error, our business will play… out in court!

By far the worst experience I have gone through. I never met the actual doctor for the 4 months I went there. I don't understand how he can diagnose me without actually talking to me in person. I only saw his nurse Alyson, who was very cold and you felt rushed when talking to her and she makes you feel like you are not even being heard. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone in pain and looking for a compassionate doctor who actually cares an wants to help.

Do your homework and research who you are referred to! Dr.Stapleton has been sanctioned by the Oregon Medical Board on multiple occasions with a new sanction pending.

My Physician referred me to Interventional Pain at the Providence Portland Hosptial for leg pain. I was evaluated and set up with a treatment plan. I received a spinal injection and after 2-3 days my leg pain is almost completly gone. I would recommend Dr.Stapleton to my fmaily and friends

They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered. Their staff is the most friendly, welcoming staff I've ever dealt with. They are so warm and professional, and make the whole experience that much better. I was so impressed with the progress I was able to make after visiting them. All my questions were answered, and I feel a lot more confident and hopeful about the future. The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all.

You do not even see the doctor when you go in, but are diagnosed by his PA, then sent to him for injections! The first visit, I already had a diagnosis from my surgeon, and Dr. Stapleton did consult with me a bit before administering shot, but on my second visit a year later, his PA misdiagnosed, and he administered an expensive, uncomfortable injection that did not help at all! Upon then consulting my surgeon, he said that was because that was not what was wrong with me! This to me is not a caring environment to cure my pain, but a money machine set up for his advantage.

Staff absolutely no bedside manner. Dr gave wrong diagnoses, and comes across uncaring. My husband came into the office in pain. He was told that he appears to be having a stroke and they told him to DRIVE HIMSELF TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM! (I was out of state at time) he drove there and was treated at the hospital. I can not believe the inappropriate way that was handled.
