Dr. Joseph William Roberts, MD

Dr Roberts may be a good doctor but there is horrible follow through by his staff. Saw doc over two weeks ago, and still waiting on CT authorization, and the addition of some tests to the bloodwork script he wrote initially. What I disliked the most was he prescribed 2 very strong antibiotics without knowing if I had an infection. Very difficult to reach the office - there was phone troubles for nearly a month - and although messages were left, never received a return call.

A family member saw Dr Roberts OVER 2 weeks ago, and despite all the tests and procedures the doctor spoke about, nothing has yet to be done despite leaving messages with the office. He prescribed 2 strong antibiotics without knowing for certain if there was an infection (the pharmacist persuaded us not to take them)! A stool kit was given to us but since it wasn't covered by insurance, we asked to include stool tests on the blood script (still no response). An authorization for a CT scan still has not been given to us. So in essence, we saw the doctor over 2 weeks ago for a legitimate medical problem, and despite all his recommendations, nothing has been done because his office hasn't followed through. Its really a shame because I happen to like the doctor very much but ever since his office staff changed, things have not been the same.

Dr. Roberts is a great doctor. HOWEVER, his staff is horrendous. They never answer the phone, they never return calls, they forget to do things, they leave the answering service on all day. I can NEVER get in touch with them. Because of his staff, I've decided to go to another gastro whose staff has brains.

Seems like there isn’t much organization going on there.

Highly recommended doctor, very kind ,and compassionate , had a endoscopy done, easy procedure no pain, after , just a great doctor and kind stand up person

Office was CLEAN and appointment was near time scheduled. Doctor has patience, make sure you don't leave any thing out when giving you family history on a first time visit.

Explains everything in detail and will not quit until he identifies your problem.

Dr. Roberts is the best and so caring. His office staff is another story. I don't know what is going on in that office. His staff can ruin his business they never answer the phone and can be very rude. I have been a patient of Dr. Roberts for over 20yrs and highly recommend him if you can get someone to answer the phone. The only problem I had recently was I was scheduled for surgery and needed medical clearance and had to call 3 times to get it done. I don't want to switch doctors but his office is going down hill fast.

A good Dr. Some of the staff are unprofessional and inconsiderate. Not good!!! Happy with Dr Roberts, somewhat unhappy with his staff. Also waiting times do very.

I feel Badly for the staff of this office. They can't get anything done because they are constantly being pulled in different directions by the office manager Angela, who is unprofessional and dresses in street clothes. I have overheard the Dr speak to his staff, and is is very unprofessional and talks badly about his patients while they are in the room within earshot! If you catch him on a good day, which hasn't been so in the past year, he is more than helpful, but he asks the staff to do everything ASAP, which I later found out if the reason my medications are not sent over to the pharmacy. When I asked why, they had No Policy in place on how or when medications are sent. Every other dr office on the island, they send the rx through the computer right in front if you so it is waiting at the pharmacy. The office is outdated, and is the equipment and NOT sterile. More than once I have been berated by Angela for calling up about my prescriptions, and being told the office is very busy.… They need to hire More staff. There is always a new person at the front desk because staff is over worked and keep quitting. I once had to wait 60 days just to get an approval from their office for me to see another specialist for what the dr deemed important and done ASAP. The phones are a,so constantly busy, and with one person answering she cannot do anything else but answer phones, while the office manager Angela just sits there and stares off into space. I have voiced my concerns many times. But it has fell on deaf ears. They need to invest some money in cleaning, staff, and professional courtesy. It was beyond rude to hear how the dr. Speaks about his patients to his office manager. He just wants to get the patient I and out. He is famous for sending you out to other dr's to diagnose the problem, and never available when he finds something serious. Plus I've been made to come into the office for test results that could have been given over the phone. Just another way for them to make a buck. With the crowded wait room, and overworked staff, I wonder what the money is being spent on. Hopefully Not the office managers salary. Lately she's Been looking sickly and Works for a Dr! Complains how she doesn't feel good, and yet, she works for a Dr! I wouldn't recommend unless you are desperate and have days to wait for your prescriptions. God forbid he sends you out to another specialist and you need your insurance to be called, you would wait over a month! This place has real gone downhill. Only good thing I can say is new front desk girl was very courteous, patient, and funny, put me at ease, I believe her name is Francesca. If they want to keep more patients, they should keep her in staff. Hopefully they won't overwork her as they did the others and make her quit too..
