Dr. Joshua C Cohen, DO

I have done everything I could to get help, My husband and I searched and searched for a psychiatrist that could help me and find the right treatment/medication that would work. I was put on a waitlist for 4 months and when I was supposed have my appointment he called and told me that he thinks that I would be putting him and his staff at risk and that I need to cancel and reschedule, ( I had a sinus infection) I’ve been having lots of bad side effects from the medication I was put on, so I called to reschedule and was told that he’s not taking anyone new and that I need to wait for another 3 to 4 months to get an appointment and that I was put at the top of the list. My brother in-law is a psychiatrist who has tried to get in contact with him 3 times, each time leaving a voice message. He never responded to him. I called and called no response, later on I receive a call from dr.cohen, expecting to have a pleasant and professional conversation. Nope, from the time I picked up he… was very rude, aggressive and was raising his voice at me. He would not let me talk or explain my self. Told me that if I was having that much of a problem and crises that I need to just go and sign my self in. I had tried to interfere to tell him that I had not long ago. He told me to stop talking and that I’m not his problem or his responsibility. He had absolutely no respect, he acted cold and like he didn’t have the slightest care. I have never ever expected a “so called psychiatrist” to talk to someone who is desperately seeking his help or a psychiatrist that was available to help. I’m baffled, he is a joke and shouldn’t even be in this line of work. Please don’t even try with guy, I should have listened to the reviews and not given him benefit of the doubt.

If you just want drugs - he’s your guy. He threw Xanax at me for years. Ended up having to go to detox and inpatient rehab because of it.

Joshua Cohen is not a physician. His “medical” degree is in osteopathy. That may or may not be what you are looking for in a psychiatrist, but transparency is important when choosing medical care.

I called Dr. Cohen office yesterday to explain I needed to review my medications and that I was experiencing panic attacks one of which put me in the hospital. The woman who answered the phone gave me an appointment for two days later but called the next day to say Dr. Cohen needed. When I tried to explain the urgent need to see him sooner. I was told very curtly that" this is not up for debate" His staff is rude and uncaring. I had not seen Dr. Cohen for a while but if his staff is any indication of things are done in that office it is not a caring place to seek treatment.

I saw Joshua Cohen for medication and found his demeanor patronizing so I switched providers. He was professional and I think he’d be fine to see for psychopharmacology, but I would have reservations recommending him for talk therapy. As noted, he’s not an MD (physician); he is a DO (osteopath). However DOs, like PAs, can prescribe medication.

I've been seeing Dr. Cohen for meds for BPD for a while now (I see an additional DBT psychologist as well). SO grateful to him that he works with someone with BPD, which many don't. He has my meds dialed in perfectly and makes adjustments when needed. I feel he really listens to what is happening with me not only mentally, but physically, and makes necessary adjustments, all which benefit my life greatly. I hope he never leaves our area. I hope he can be my psychiatrist for years and years to come. He is in the 'life saver' category of people in my life. Thank you, Dr. Cohen

Dr. Cohen has always provided professional, reliable service to me. I've been seeing him for several years, and find him to be thoughtful in his diagnosis, as well as proactive with the adjustments to treatment as necessary. I have had one a couple of occasions needed to contact him after hours or on a weekend and he has always gotten back to me in a timely fashion. I highly recommend him.

I didn't realize he was an osteopath.

Was denied refill of antidepressant that he had had me on for 2 years. This information came from my pharmacy when I went to pick it up after requesting it earlier in the week. Dr. Cohen nor his office did not make any contact with me about denying the refill. This forced me into the severe withdrawal symptoms over my holiday weekend.

Wonderful bedside manner. Acutely intelligent. Knows what he is doing.
