Total relief from pain, exceeded my expectations

By the time Dr. Julian Mack Aldridge performed surgery on my hands, I had experienced years of increasingly painful arthritis, 4 years of painful shots that gradually stopped helping, and wore custom night splints on both hands. I could no longer open jars, and typed with increasing pain. My hands hurt all the time. Even swimming was painful. Dr. Aldridge performed two surgeries on both hands, with three incisions per hand. He did a carpal tunnel release and replaced the first carpometacarpal joint in both thumbs with a tendon from my wrists. Both thumb joints had deteriorated from arthritis due to separate accidents and overuse. The surgery exceeded my expectations for success in every possible way. Even days after each surgery, I had less pain in the hand than the week before the surgery. He did my dominant right hand first. I was 2 weeks in a soft cast, 4 weeks in short hard cast, and 3 months in a thumb joint splint. At 91 days, he did the exact same surgeries on my left hand with the same time frames for casts and 1 month for the splint. I continue to do Occupational Therapy exercises with good results and no pain. At this writing, I am less than 7 months from my first surgery. All 6 of my incisions are virtually invisible. I can open jars bare-handed. I am able to do any activity I wish, from gardening to swimming to typing for hours, with no pain. Dr. Aldridge set me free from the constant and worsening pain, and gave me back the enjoyment of my normal daily activities.

He cares!

I had been told by "the best" at Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem that my hand would never get better. My left thumb was basically useless after a series of surgeries to combat a serious infection. Dr. Aldridge dd not agree and after 2 more surgeries that he performed I have extensive use of my left thumb! He restored my quality of life!

He gave me back my hand!

When I was referred to Dr. Aldridge in December, I had significant pain and diminished movement in my wrist following a fracture seven months before. During that time, I was receiving treatment from another orthopedist. Just before my first appointment with Dr. Aldridge, I had been told my condition may never improve. Dr. Aldridge proved that to be incorrect. My pain is gone; movement has been restored. His plan of treatment, including that of my OT, has had miraculous results. I am so grateful for his caring expertise.

Tendon Transplant

Kudos to Dr. Aldridge and support team for making life much easier in my backpacking hobby. My wrist is pain free and continues to improve after a lot of self inflicted abuse. Hope I don't have to come back but will certainly know who to look for if I have problems with the other wrist!
