Dr. Kanwaljit S Gill, MD

Dr. Gill is exceptional. He is extremely intelligent, knowledgeable, experienced, and compassionate. He has a calm demeanor, explains things thoroughly, includes the patient in the management of the treatment plan and responds promptly to questions and concerns. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He is the best surgeon I have ever interacted with. I highly recommend him and encourage anyone to seek his care.

I was apprehensive after reading one negative review, so expecting the worst. To my amazement, he took the time to explain the treatment options and was very congenial and courteous. Sure, he gave the sense that he was confident, but I didn't view that as arrogance. I felt an established trust with this doctor and never once questioned his expertise. He did my knee replacement surgery two years ago and I have not had a single problem. The staff assisting him with surgery and my aftercare were also very professional. There was a team spirit evident throughout and I would say that the whole experience was the best medical care that I've ever received. I highly recommend this surgeon.

as good as it gets

Asked Dr Gill a few questions about post op medication regarding my upcoming surgery and he just didn't think it was worth his time, obviously. He may be a great surgeon, but he's also a condescending jerk.

Dr Gill performs multiple surgeries simultaneously. Kaiser must love him for that fact alone. I had successful surgery, but experienced some complications during my recovery. Dr Gill seems to be remote and less than interested. He is a Cutter, not a whole doctor. I think he also has some strange philosophy that keeps him from caring too much. You need to ice down your ten-foot pole bruises after seeing him.

Dr. Gill is a very good surgeon and I had no complications. However like the first person to make a comment I was veryfrustrated at not having my followup questions answered . I wanted as much professional information from him as he could answer so that I could have the tools to help me in my own recovery.Ultimately I ended up paying out of pocket for things such as physical therapy which he said I did not need but it did help me in the long run... I then sought out a second opinionfrom another orthopedic surgeon at Kaiser who confirmed Ishould see a podiatrist because of my foot pronation. Bottom line --I had to be my own advocate and think outside the box.Finally, my questions were answered regarding spiral fracturesbut this was sixteen years later. Yes, there is a lot of soft tissuedamage that occurs upon such great impact. It's all I wanted toknow.Fortunately my personal physician takes the time to sitand talk to me which I appreciate.

excellent doc

He has too many patients and is consistently late to all his surgeries and appts. and makes patients wait. and even his own staff. Kind of unprofessional in my point of view. And he is not detailed in his answering of questions.. Laughs a lot without devulging info. He should explain things realistically without laughing it off and underestimates knowledge of the person asking.. He should explain better and take time to do it with the patient and family. BUt, he's got too many patients and surgeries so no time to spend with patients afterwards.. except for 5 min. and then he's off.. But despite his disorganzed behavior he is supposedly an excellent surgeon and respected amongst his peers.. He does do a good job at the hospital but I think people get frustrated with his lateness & disorganization.
