Dr. Karen Ann Bordson, DO

My wife and I had an absolutely horrible experience. We typically both see another doctor from the same practice however this specific appointment was scheduled expeditiously and it so happened that Dr. Bordson was the on-call doctor. When it was determined that my wife was in the process of a miscarriage I expected at least a little sympathy/empathy and instead we were handed a black folder of papers. While I can respect receiving the â??clinicalâ?? information I also expect that someone practicing in Obstetrics/Gynecology would have at least a small amount of bedside manner. We werenâ??t asked if we had any questions at any point. We were taken to another room where my wife received a pelvic exam. The doctor came in accompanied by someone that we had never seen before. She didnâ??t introduce herself or speak for the entire time. It wasnâ??t taken in to consideration during the pelvic exam or vaginal ultrasound that my wife was in an extreme amount of pain. (I understand that… an exam might have been necessary, or maybe not, but consideration for the patient shouldnâ??t be too much to ask for). In fact the doctor didnâ??t even attempt an abdominal ultrasound prior to the invasive procedure. Even after the in office ultrasound, due to the dated equipment, we still had to go to a womanâ??s clinic for use of an updated machine. (On a side note the ultrasound technician there was amazing, attempted an abdominal ultrasound first and then explained why it wouldnâ??t provide the view she needed. She was even apologetic when she knew that a couple of positions were painful). As the doctor was walking out the door, literally she was standing in the door way, I asked if we could at least determine the pregnancy wasnâ??t ectopic. She just said she didnâ??t know. There was no discussion on what my wife could take for the pain. No standard procedure about following the HCG levels back to zeroâ?¦nothing. We then had to schedule a follow up (even though we werenâ??t told what we were â??following upâ?? for). I specifically asked to see our normal doctor however I was told that it was customary to see the same doctor. After thinking about this we decided to call the office back and let them know we werenâ??t comfortable following up with Dr. Bordson. The appointment scheduler and nursing manager had to ask permission for us to see our own doctor (even after I reiterated the circumstance and the fact that most likely this would be our last appointment due to the miscarriage). The nurse manager did make it a point to ask why we werenâ??t comfortable (not sure why this mattered as I should be able to schedule an appointment with the doctor I choose) and took the time to apologize for the circumstance. I told her that this was the first time anyone from her office said they were sorry. I didnâ??t even need them to really mean it, it didnâ??t even need to be sincere, we just needed to hear it. Shame on me for agreeing to see the on-call doctor, I should have read other reviews as our experience seems to be a pattern among other patients. We can draw a positive from this experience. Moving forward weâ??ve decided to look in to midwifes and birthing centers. At a minimum we will locate an office that has a passion for the patient and their physical and emotional well-being.

Dr. Bordson is an amazing physician and her staff far exceed your expectations.

Physician did not listen to me. She called me to return for a lab test after I told her during my appointment that I was awaiting the results from the day before, because I came to the office early for lab work. She insisted I had not done the lab. I drove back to their office, where the phlebotomist told me it was the same test I was awaiting the results for. The physician also made me sign papers that I had signed the previous appointment, even after I explained I had already signed them and understood the meaning. I sincerely hope she is not on call when I am in labor. I am afraid since she cannot listen to me at a regular prenatal appointment that she will not listen to my concerns and wishes during delivery.

When she talks it sounds more of a lecture about everything than anything. She had asked me if I was attending child birth classes and I told her no. Then she had the nerve to ask why not and did I know that child birth hurts really bad or something to that effect. If she would have just looked at the chart she would have seen I already had one child before and knew what it was like. Just think if it was someones first child and she said its a really painful experience could scare someone.

If you have any problems out of the ordinary in your pregnancy, stay away!!!!!

I wanted my 1st delivery to be natural. Things didn't go as planned and Dr. Bordson was real patient with me coming to terms with an unplanned (and totally unexpected) C section. Which, by the way, went very well and my recovery time was short. Great Job!

Had some complication during delivery of my second child. Dr.Bordson was great,Quick thinker.
